I've been wanting to explore Ren's Academy days before being appointed as an Instructor shortly after the Algmos Incident, and I've just realized something I could do. That something is making Elise and Noah two of Ren's old Academy classmates. They're all around the same age, Noah being about 3 years older than the ladies. Noah and Elise, I believe, enlisted at the same time and were basically inspereable up until the Yugreia Incident, and don't seem to have a connection to any mentor figure pre-Yugreia. So, Academy it is.
But like, during their Academy days, Ren wasn't particularly close with Noah and Elise, who were among that year's top students. The duo's view of Ren isn't the greatest b/c all they've heard of her was that she causes trouble everywhere she goes and gives Instructors a hard time. Although, Ren was able to stand her ground against Noah during mock-battles, so that was something. Ren herself didn't think a whole lot of Noah and Elise, either, other than much was expected out of the both of them after graduating.
So, graduation happens, and they all move through their lives as they do. Dunno when the Yugreia Incident would've happened, but Ren does hear about it happeneing, but not about Noah getting scapegoated. So, her reaction amounts to "Well. That sucks." Noah and Elise don't hear much of Ren until Ren comes in with the permission to take on Raid missions in Elgaia. They've been away from the Regular Army for so long now that they haven't caught wind of Ren being acknowledged as their strongest member.
So Ren comes into the Raid Office for the first time, and she and Elise recognize each other, but Ren doesn't call attention to that. Elise, however, is still wary of Ren after all these years. She doesn't say anything, but Ren can feel her uneasiness. Noah's main gripe with Ren is that he just flat out doesn't trust her because of her past and she can feel it in his tone with her whenever they speak. Both are incredibly shocked to hear that Ren's actually been given an Instructor position despite her behavior when they were teens.
Of course, relationships improve over the course of the Raid storyline, which I have concluding before the Main Storyline reaches Agni.
After they start getting along better, Noah somehow took to calling Ren “Reaper”, a reference to one of her earliest titles, “The White Reaper”. This title came from the color of her cloak and the incredible speed at which she would slay her enemies; a blur of white on the battlefield.
Honestly, Noah calls her that more than her actual name, not that Ren really minds. Although, as time went on, it does come to a head in an exchange with Reda:
Reda: “You’re Renata Crux, the White Reaper.”
Ren: “...Wow, I can name literally one person who still calls me that nowadays.”
Noah to Ren, over coms: “I still don’t think this is a good idea.”
Ren: “You got any better ones?”
Noah: “I...No.”
Ren: “Then just say the fucking line! You can do it!”
Noah, to Elise: *clears throat* “Hello, Elise.”
Elise: “Hi, Noah! What can I do for you today?”
Noah: “I--You know, Elise, I-I can be your Silver Knight any day.”
Elise, flushed: “U-Um...You...I-I...”
Noah to Ren, visibly panicking: “Reaper, I don’t think the plan worked. She’s not responding!”
Ren: *at a far table with her head in her hands*

Post-Raid Storyline Noah radiates partial Virgil Sanders energy in my verse.
Left Brain: “Ren was the Harry to Noah and Elise’s Ron and Hermione. And I think she might still be.”
