I’d imagine it’s… Mainly a kind of amalgam of reasons, starting with he was always relatively content to be left alone to do his own thing. If a Friend came along, great! If not, he just doesn’t do the social butterfly thing and wouldn’t really notice to care all that much. There’s science to do after all. I think by the time he actually noticed just how much everybody kept him out of the loop, it was… Normal.

The other thing is the excuse he gave in our alt!timeline thread. At that point, he wasn’t in a real great spot financially, had several ongoing projects, was getting on in years, and moving would have just been an ordeal. There’s also the fact that Hill Valley had been home for most of his life, and also that in any timeline created after Marty’s initial trip back, he knows that’s where he needs to be for sake of continuity and curiosity.))
