Like the cookie, I don’t know what the future “hodls,” but I’d like to envision a time in which two disagreeing parties can hold a civilized conversation and come to a mutually disappointing agreement (yay, democracy!)… Preferably without one of those parties being a raging homophobic, racist, fear mongering anti-scientist, but people, if we never bring them to our tables and give them the respect and dignity they deserve as human beings, we’ll never change their minds or effectively model a different way. Now, you could make a fine argument about those people not having a place at the table, but unfortunately, they’re standing in the world’s collective dining room, so you may as well offer them some chicken, a beer, and an ear attached to a loving heart.
