Some Jedi OCs. I'm thinking they're from around the end of the High Republic era.
Chapter two of Vaderdala Week is here!
Prompt I used: Mythology
Summary: When Vader and Padmé take a trip to the poisoned planet Honoghr in the hopes of saving the planet’s inhabitants (though the official mission is to recruit some new Imperials) they discover the Noghri’s myths bear some resemblance to their own lives…

George Lucas and the Thrawn Trilogy Part of a series I've put together focusing on the history of the EU. Sources: Timothy Zahn (1, 2, 3, 4, 5), Steve Sansweet (Lucasfilm fan rep), Betsy Mitchell (Bantam editor), & Pablo Hidalgo (1, 2).
In the aftermath of the Clone Wars, the planet Honoghr was devastated by contamination from crashed warships. The Empire, recognizing the deadly value of the powerful and stealthy native Noghris, stepped in to help cleanse the world of the deadly pollutants. In truth, they were exploiting the natives' sense of honor, as Imperial reclamation projects simply cleaned up enough of the contamination to keep the Noghri in the Empire's debt. Darth Vader became a central figure of authority to the Noghri, his own dark armor reminding them of their harsh features. The Noghri became yet another weapon for Vader to stealthily wield against his enemies.
Last Command chapters 13-16
I honestly had suspicions it'd be so, but the Noghri are gonna be guarding Leia! And it's great, they exclusively call Han "Consort to the Lady Vader" and the twins "heirs of the Lady Vader". Han hates the idea and is weirded out by what they're calling him, but Leia's entertained by it. Honestly relatable because I too am amused. I do feel for Han though being upset about just how soon he had to leave to do the jailbreak. Poor man just wanted to spend time with his wife and children...
Speaking of the jailbreak. Took much less time than I thought it would, but that's for the best. Meant I got to experience what's now one of my favorite moments in the whole book. Let me set the scene, Mara just woke up from another nightmare of Luke and Vader teaming up to kill Palpatine and hears Palpatine's voice telling her to kill Luke. Next thing she knows, she's hearing someone sabotaging the droid outside her cell. Then the door opens and she throws her datapad at the man at the door, Luke. I can't explain why I love this so much, but I do. Luke luckily caught it before it hit him, but I'm imagining if he hadn't and that's just too funny to me. I wanna draw this.
Beyond that though, I'm loving all the moments about them. It's so sweet how Luke was giving her context so she's not feeling lost in the conversation. I think it's great that he notices that she's avoiding him and is respecting that by avoiding her too. BUT HE'S STILL KEEPING HER UP TO DATE BECAUSE HE IF HAN IS SEEING EVERYTHING CORRECTLY, THEN LUKE MUST'VE TOLD HER THEY WERE ON WAYLAND THROUGH THE FORCE.
And Han and Luke's conversation about her? I just, absolutely love that part of Luke's reasoning for keeping Mara as involved as possible for infiltrating the Emperor's store house is, "If she really wanted to kill me, she would've done it by now" Man knows this to be way too true. She had so many opportunities to do it. Ahem **TRASH COMPACTOR** ahem. And dude's like, "Ya see, I'm not really worried that she wants to kill me because she's told you and Leia. And only people trying to convince that they want to do something would spend so much time telling people what they want to do instead of doing it." Han's naturally still skeptical and Luke's like, "She's gotta see this through" and Han's like "See what through? Killing you or stopping this cloning thing?" And Luke basically shrugs, "Whichever"
And THEN there's Luke and Mara. She has finally found out how Palpatine really died because she asked Luke to tell her. Goes without saying, she didn't expect to hear that Luke wasn't even there intending to kill Palpatine, he just wanted Vader back on the lightside. Luke says he's probably still to blame for Palpatine's death and Mara's just like, "Y-yeah! It's still totally your fault!" Like she's not about to start having a midlife crisis in her twenties. She's definitely trying to reach for a reason to keep hating him now.
In other news, the imperial spy network known as Delta source has been uprooted. I couldn't beleaf it when it's discovered that Delta Source is a teched up tree. Lots of other stuff, whether Karrde likes it or not, he's definitely losing believability when he's saying he's neutral. Even the man himself is realizing it. Problem is now that the smuggling leaders he was working with want credits now, so he's planning on having Ghent send some over to them. AND Thrawn is working on framing Karrde too, that's also a problem.
Grand Admiral Thrawn, lord of the Noghri, dispensing justice at clan Kihm'bar's dukha (from Thrawn Trilogy Sourcebook, West End Games, 1996).
behold, my Noghri redesign
little guys with big black eyes, a huge underbite, and noses that can track your lineage. They’re pretty cute when they’re not trying to kill you!
