July is Minority Mental Health Awareness month. In the A.M., I'll be on my way to Birmingham, Alabama for the Minority Mental Health Summit and I am both glad and grateful for the opportunity to discuss Mental Health and the challenges we face in Indian Country in terms of mental health education, treatment and addressing the deadly stigma of mental illness in our communities. From 12:15-1:30pm on Thursday (July 13th), I'll be sitting on the Activism as a Form of Mental Health Advocacy panel with Azza Altiraifi, Quentin “Que” Bell, Jason Branch, and Gabrielle Bowie. Immediately following from 1:30-2:30pm, Johnna James, Miki Jackson and myself will be presenting on Suicide Pre and Postvention in Indian Country.
