My dad is unaccepting about me being ftm do you have any advice on how to make him come around. He refuses to use my preferred name and pronouns.

I have the same problem with my parents, my mother and father refuse to use my name and pronouns. I would correct them when you can, and use your new name and pronouns around them when possible. I try to give my parents educational reading materials. One of the best things you could do I think is for you and your dad to go sit down and talk to a gender therapist. 

I know that it is difficult now and it may take time for your dad to come around but I promise things will get better and transition is a process and a big change for our parents. They are quite literally transitioning with us, so hopefully with time he will come around. It’s been almost 2 years and my parents are still not using my new name and pronouns but I am hopeful one day that will change.

Remember just because your parent doesn’t use the right name and pronouns does not make you any less valid.

Hi guys, gals and nonbinary pals!

I’m Alex, 21 years old and currently studying physics at university. I identify as nonbinary and genderfluid and struggle everyday with it at the moment. Somedays it’s better, someday worse. It goes from dealing with a lot of dysphoria to feeling like a fraud because I’m feeling fine in my body.

Additionally I´m also dealing with social and general anxiety, so I guess my life is pretty fun...

This blog will deal with a lot of topics concerning gender, sexuality, sociaty and politics with the occasional stuff from life as constantly broke student. So that’s fun!
