Hey guys! I broke out my tarot cards for the first time in years and I figured I would do some readings for interested parties to get back into the swing of things. Shoot me an ask and I’ll give it a shot! Question and maybe something about yourself so that I have a feel for who I’m working with (like “I’m super extroverted” or “my favorite color is pink” or “my room smells like flowers” etc etc)
Just finished binging Stranger Things S2 and here are some thoughts because I thought it was cute(under the cut to avoid spoiling it for the rest of u <3) also for my GoT followers I’m sorry today’s been a non-got day hehe
The Mileven angst??? I waited 84 years but it was worth it. It was SO cute. They both did so well conveying the fact that they have chemistry, especially at their age? So talented.
Everyone was so mean to Will and so many bad things kept happening to him I was ljdhahdalhsio like I wanted to adopt him? I think I did halfway through because he’s such a precious little softie, I wanted to protecc.
Hopps and Eleven?? I HOPE HE ADOPTS HER ACTUALLY? I hope someone does at least, she deserves a true home, one that she’s found.
Max and Billy... oh boy... I had war flashbacks because the whole dynamic was just incredibly abusive I wanted to drag her away from her asshole stepbrother SO quick. I was cheering so hard for her when she finally jabbed him lmao
Steve. I don’t hate him? I remember watching S1 and not hating him either, I marked him off as asshole with asshole friends but he’s never bothered me that much and I’m glad we got to see more of him this season.
Jancy. I don’t ship it but I get the appeal. I sort of wished that they didn’t need to make Jancy happen. I mean, Jonathan and Nancy could bond over things without needing to make it a romantic dynamic but I’m not against it I guess. Whatever makes them happy. I’m team give the girl a break hahaha.
Stancy on the other hand... wooh. This is another branch of Steve I guess? I don’t ship Stancy but Nancy saying their relationship was bullshit and Steve realising she doesn’t love him... was... damn, I felt that. It’s good to know Steve genuinely had feelings for her and I think he still does, so I respect him a whole lot for letting her go in the end. That being said I understand where Nancy was coming from too? Before she even said it I knew it was coming because that last shot of her and Steve in S1 looked like a parallel of her parents and you could tell she doesn’t want to end up just like them. That exchange still stung though but I think their dynamic was one of the best that came out of S2 because it was raw and tragic and I truly could relate.
DUSTIN CRYING BECAUSE NO ONE WANTED TO DANCE WITH HIM WOW THAT HURT but Nancy coming to the rescue reminded me of why she’s one of my favourites on the show. ‘Twas cute.
Kali?? I mean, I get it but it seemed like an excuse to elongate or fill the story and have a whole training sequence. It was nice to see Darth Eleven though.
Max and Lucas. They were cute but Mileven was still cuter. Also is their ship name MuCas??? Lax? Let me know lmao.
Lucas’ little sister? Amazing, talented, never been done before.
Jonathan. Again, I don’t have anything to pick with his character but it I don’t really care much I guess. His relationship with Will is really cute though, soft and pure.
Re your take on Book!Cersei as "evil" and "horrible", I totally agree AND I find that refreshing coming from a feminist. Many feminists seem to see Cersei as merely a victim of the Westerosi patriarchy, who's just doing what she can to strike back, and give her a free pass for everything she does. This may be a reaction to extreme misogynistic Cersei-hate, but Cersei the innocent victim of patriarchy is just as extreme. She can be a victim AND an oppressor, most people in GOT (even RL) are.
I agree. I know what you mean; I’ve had encounters with diehard Cersei stans who refuse to give her enough agency to make her own mistakes and have actual flaws. It’s frustrating, but every character has their worshippers. Lord knows Jaime has plenty.
I try treating all the characters equally, without making excuses for one that I wouldn’t make for another, regardless of gender. Feminism comes into play, for me, when I look at a text or a film or whatever from a meta standpoint. Seeing Doreah get locked up, for example, isn’t necessarily sexist when you look at it in isolation. But taking into account GOT’s prior treatment of female characters, the original book text, and how society as a whole views sex workers, it is pretty sexist.
So, yeah, it’s pretty rare that I’ll say “You don’t like [female character]? You must be sexist.” I would have to have a good reason for it. Example: Skylar White on Breaking Bad. Walter White does terrible things (that I won’t get into because I don’t want to spoil it for people who haven’t watched the show), yet a lot of guys who watch the show love him. They hate Skylar, however, and when asked why, offer up flimsy excuses like “Oh, she did xxxxxx, which was a bad thing.” Even though xxxxxx is nothing compared to what Walt had done, or in some cases the exact same thing that Walt had done.
For real, though, if anyone wants to talk about sexism and Breaking Bad, hit me up. I’ve got a lot to say about that, but I don’t want to start posting BB spoilers on here.
