Hi this is a reminder to nonbinary people who are questioning their sexuality that most common sexuality labels were created with the binary in mind and its okay to not connect with them. Its okay to not be able to parse what the ‘same gender’ or ‘opposite gender’ or even ‘different gender’ means to you. Its okay to use small labels, its okay to coin your own labels. Being uncommon does not make your experiences less real or less worthy of respect.

nblw does not mean wlw but gender non-conforming. nblw doesnt mean nonbinary-but-secretly-a-woman, nor does it necessarily mean woman-aligned. it does not necessarily mean afab, nor does it mean transfem.

nblm does not mean mlm but gender non-conforming. nblm doesnt mean nonbinary-but-secretly-a-man, nor does it necessarily mean man-aligned. it does not necessarily mean amab, nor does it mean transmasc.

nonbinaryness is its own complete identity separate from manhood and womanhood. a nonbinary persons attraction and how they choose to label it says nothing about their “actual” gender identity, and you cannot tell a nonbinary person they are not nonbinary based on their attractions to binary people. nonbinary doesnt mean cis gay but gender non-conforming, nor does it mean trans gay but gender non-conforming. you cannot tell anything about a nonbinary person from their orientation other than who they are attracted to. dont assume you know better. all nonbinary people are unique and different, and they will not all be the same so that you can guess what they “really” are. they are not “really” anything but really nonbinary, and really cool.

Nonbinary people don’t have to be alone. Being nonbinary does not mean you’re excluded from people liking and loving you.
