saw the typical "i hate het ships because they're het actually" nonsense on twitter..... 😪 disliking heterosexuality because it's hetero (when the REAL issue is how our heteronormative societies portray & force het relationships) is so wack for MANY reasons.

y'all are aware there are het people IN the queer community right? not to mention the fact that assuming a m/f ship is het just because it's m/f is also ignorant af.

take alyssumiris for example. both of them are on the aroace spec, drayton also being bipan. them being together doesn't just automatically erase their orientations.

The “queer not gay” people are the most insufferable people alive sometimes. Being LGBT is not inherently political but LGBT people have had to fight fights politically throughout history against people who claim that it is in order for it not to be and you’re just gonna come out here ignorant asf saying shit like “gay/trans is political” as if it doesn’t play into the hand of every conservative homophobe and transphobe who wants to make gay marriage and transition for adults illegal. personally as a queer black dude, my only beef w/the black and brown stripes on the gay flag is the possible implication the flag doesn't already include queer poc.

i certainly don't mind it as a flag for queer poc specifically! but im critical of it as the 'correct' version of the flag cause like...why shouldn't a symbol meant to represent the entire gay community include gays of color by default? why wouldn't they be inherent to it, especially with how consistently pivotal they've been to queer history?

we don't need to be redesigned into it, its already our flag as much as anyone else's cause we've kinda been here the whole time.
