We gonna read or what?
I got this from the library yesterday. My mom had picked up the book and said it was supposed to be good and I wanted to read it, so she ended up checking out two copies so we both could read it, together.
I am enjoying it so far. Lots of powerful passages. I might try to finish it tomorrow since Bookly says it will only take me one more hour to complete it.
And I got in my non-fiction read for the month. I started and finished this before I continued on with Kingdom of Ash.
This was so good. I know who Steve Martin is, and I have loved his movies and any appearance on SNL, but I don’t think I have seen any clips of his stand-up. I think he writes wonderfully and his approach to comedy was so interesting.
The book is about his rise to fame and him choosing to walk away from being a stand-up comedian, the thing that made him famous.
Fantastic book!!
Starting my nonfic pick of the month. I want to read it for at least 30 minutes tonight.
The brief sessions continue!
I like and dislike this book that the same time. I think some of what she is writing is genuinely funny, but I also feel that it is all so abruptly written. I don’t feel that there is a flow to anything and things are just being jumped into. It isn’t a long book, but it is taking me longer than usual because I am not all that invested in it.
According to Bookly it will take me another two hours to finish, but maybe that is because I am only trying to get in my 30 minutes. I would like to finish tomorrow so I can move on.
Another great memoir from Frank McCourt! Sometimes his attitude about things annoyed me and I despise people who drink their lives away, but I admire his perseverance and how he kept working away to survive and achieve his dreams. I look forward to reading his third memoir later this year.
