Ahimsa.
Ahimsa, is a sanskrit term which means non violence. It is the first of the Yamas or principles to live in harmony with the world and society, to have a harmonious relation with the ones that surround us. The practice of Ahimsa does not refer only to actions, but also to words, thoughts and intentions. My philosophy teacher, Siddharthaji, used to say that Yoga is just about being Loving and Kind, and this is the foundation of the practice of non-violence. I have read some texts on which it is explained that it is easier to just work on let it go of the negative thoughts about someone, than to cultivate love for someone we don’t like. I can agree with that in someway, however, in my personal experience it actually works on the other way. For me, everything starts with love in the form of compassion. So when I feel the impulse of acting with someone else from a place of negativity, anger or violence, I called myself and asked me why: why I don’t like this person? or why this person is harmful with me? why I feel to defend myself? why do I need to judge this? why it is so difficult to accept this? Is there any other way to re-act than from the anger?… And all these questions connect me back with compassion, which can only come from the source of love. Off course sometimes the emotions are explosive as a volcano and I can only manage to control them after they have already started to be expressed. However, I have seen how those explosions have been reduced as more I practice the observation and I bring myself to all those questions cultivating compassion. If we just remember that we are all one, and everything we do to others we are actually doing it to ourselves, then all there is no other place from where to act than from love. #ahimsa #nonviolence #nonharming #peace #love #kindness #yogaphilosophy #yamas #yogasutras #ashtanga #yogaisequanimity

The heart of life is #impermanance with acceptance of this the heart can open to even the most challenging moments we experience. We stop trying to get life to be a certain way; instead of resisting we flow with life. Knowing that everything that arises passes away, we cultivate the capacity to stay present for it with an open mind and a compassionate heart. We learn to stop reacting in harmful ways and shift towards responding in ways that are wise, kind and healing. #impermanence #nonharming #buddhadharmasangha https://www.instagram.com/p/CDiJ91cnpM6/?igshid=17pk9b2en1cwn
