I have no tail and I must wag
(Image description in alt text.) This is a comic that I found in a decades old issue of a magazine about multiples and DID systems, Many Voices: Words of Hope for People Recovering from Trauma and Dissociation, Vol XI, No.4, August 1999, ISSN 1042-2277. Illustrations and comics in this magazine are usually credited only by an artist's signature, which may be unclear or absent. This one doesn't have an artist credit, so Noah might be the signature, a name that doesn't appear elsewhere in the issue.
My perception of myself is a little different to how others see me
i think part of why alterhumanity as an umbrella is so important to me is because WE as upright, thumbed, zoochosis-poisoned primates, have become disillusioned within the confines of this terrible labyrinth we have built for ourselves. and of course this goes for the hateful 1% who are comfortable pretending that animals are thoughtless automatons to displace and exploit, but it also goes for you, who sits listless and scrolling and scrolling and scrolling. what are you looking for?
sensory engagement, climbing, touching, running, balancing, imagining…. psychologists talk about ‘healing our inner child’, occupational therapists talk about sensory regulation, and suddenly there are adult playgrounds and climbing gyms and foam pits built for grown people who were told their whole lives to sit still and behave!!! but why is it such an issue to act animal? are we not that already? who is teaching us that it’s shameful?
i don’t think everyone should, like, acquire a fursona and wear ears and tails (that would be fun, though). but i do really dream of a world where people just act animal for funsies sometimes. or for liberation, for self-exploration, to just TRY something and see if you love it or hate it. you could swim and pretend you’re a dolphin again like you did when you were a kid.. or you could choke back the contempt when THAT coworker walks by and remind yourself of how owls bristle and puff up.. we anthropomorphize animals so much and plaster human characteristics onto them but hardly ever allow ourselves to do the same inwards. i’m just saying… you look an awful lot like a cat when you wake up and stretch so languidly
take it from someone who has been acting like an animal for upwards of the two decades i’ve spent on this orb! you don’t have to buy anything, or join any special circles, or pick up labels, or tell anyone anything you don’t want to.. i don’t think you have to believe anything except the simple fact that you are capable of play, and relaxation, and seeing the beauty in this world that so many people are trying to hide from you
i promise you it is enough to just allow yourself permission to have fun. pretend to be something you’re not for a little while! go out and get your hands dirty!
or your hooves or talons or tendrils or fins
edit: i am not trying to speak for alterhumanity as a whole here haha. i have been a self-identified therian for over ten years now, i believe in past lives and stuff!! this post isn't me going "All of alterhumanity should be playing-pretend", it's something i wrote up to just provoke thought and show people that alterhumanity isn't a secret club.. there are lots of different niches to explore and experiment with. this is not meant to invalidate anyone whose identify goes beyond what i described! it's just that sometimes we only talk about certain peaks of the spectrum of which alterhumanity takes up
The forgetting disorder is making me forget again

hi! i drew myself (kintype/nonhuman headmate) for a new profile picture. it took forever to draw, because i was trying out some new techniques. that's all, have a nice day
I understand the general disdain for humanity, in this political climate especially. I understand as a species they're capable of great evil.
But as a dog,
I love humans.
Humans are kind.
Humans are creative.
Humans are gentle.
They belong on this earth too. 💛
