thinking about the fact i'm an aus kelpie (sometimes)

what i'm realising is that i'm not really a kelpie (behaviour wise), i'm just a domestic canine that happens to look the most like a kelpie - so i call myself a kelpie

i also think i'm specifically a dog in the way i go about relationships (both platonic and romantic), which is why i see it as more of a flicker, because i don't necessarily always feel like a dog - and as such don't always see myself as a dog - i just kind of. am one.

i may not identify as my flickertypes at the present moment - and may never identify as them again - but they still had an impact on my identity.

it's a difficult thing to explain, because while they're not part of my current identity, it's like they've left a shadow, or a thin layer of dust. or like someone threw flickertype-glitter all over my identity and i can't get it all off.

learning the term 'otherflicker' has made everything make so much more sense now. certain identities of mine were just me getting things wrong (wolf, cat) but others were absolutely flicker identities (sea otter, blue and gold macaw, australian kelpie)

it does make it harder to identify if something is a kintype or a flicker, but lately i've been caring less and less about labels and being specific and stuff. i'm nonhuman, a coyote, and a barn owl, and that's all i really feel the need to tell people. if there are other animals in my brain, cool. if they stick around, cool. if they don't stick around and instead leave after a few weeks/months, cool. i don't care lol

Even more sure I'm a Light fictionkin--, but I think I'll stick with calling it a 'flicker for now and see if it fades away as the interest dies down in intensity a bit or it it doesn't ofc
