Some point in the afternoon the lab erupted with a strange dashing sound. THEY ARE RUBBING! We all ran to the camera and low and behold here they were. The whole family of 7 in succession on the underwater camera! Blowing bubbles and rubbing their bellies along the smooth rocks. While OCEARCH continues to lie in order to steal credit and get headlines, real researchers are quietly continuing to collect data. The Fox Research Foundation uses non-invasive PAT tags that are applied to the shark as it swims by. A couple of years ago they tagged a 20 foot female named Dolly who revealed deep dives off South Australia's shelf, adding to the extensive movement data they already have for these sharks.
