I have no idea if this will even get any responses, but I’m not sure who in my real life to ask:
I’m 85% of the way through a CTM embroidery project. Each character who has lived in Nonnatus is represented by a flower on the embroidery- (for example, Sr Monica Joan is a dandelion bc she loves the weeds, Valerie is a poppy bc she was an army nurse, Trixie is a Portofino Citrix flower, etc) because Nonnatus tends to their allotment and flowers are a big representational aid in the show.
I’m really struggling with deciding which flower to give Patsy. I originally thought a White Magnolia because they’re the flower of Shanghai (where she was born) but I also feel like she doesn’t really have ties to it past her father and it being the location of her birth, so I’ve been contemplating the idea of a Carnation, because the red coloured carnations represent strength, love and compassion.
Since the piece is square, the corners have been embroidered with interlocking couples (Chummy and Peter, Shelagh and Patrick, Patsy and Delia and Barbara and Tom) so whichever flower I decide on for Patsy is going to be interlocked with a daffodil that represents Delia.
So which flower would suit Patsy more? A white magnolia or a red carnation?
How to the ROs + Revenant react to a very clumsy MC but not a normal clumsy one but a super dangerously clumsy one (e.i: losing their footing in a very high staircase or from a roof but luckily a tree broke their fall)?
So sorry this took so long, Anon! I hope you like it!
Clumsy MC:
Astasus: Is constantly on edge - if he doesn't have his eyes on you at all times he's borderline hysterical. He will never let you fall though. If you do, you can count on him to be there to break your fall, even if he has to take it in your stead. If he has to he'll wrap you in blankets and pillows to try and keep you safe - if worst comes to worst he will carry you everywhere.
Eratine: The first few times he thinks it's hilarious. Then he starts to notice just how dangerous your accidents are and he starts to keep an eye on you the best he can. Only thing is he's not exactly graceful either, so any attempt he makes to save you makes the situation that much worse. He'll deny that he tried to help if you ever ask - he's far too embarrassed.
Bernadine: Tries to mitigate it somewhat if she's within reach, but if you aren't friends then she's content to let nature take its course. When you get close though her worries shoot up exponentially. She'll make signs and leave them wherever she thinks you might have an accident as a reminder to hopefully watch your step.
Brigid/Hesychia: Will chew you out when you get hurt, and will glare at you if you even think of heading somewhere dangerous - you will feel her eyes on your back wherever you go. If it's a minor fall she'll laugh at you, but she's probably one of the most vigilant in watching over you to make sure you're okay. She'll try to mitigate the worst of the crumbling staircases, and she'll cut the branches of the trees in the greenhouse to make sure you can't reach them and climb up.
Miki-Tane: Will also laugh when you fall, but it's mostly awkward. The second hand embarrassment is strong with this one. The danger of your little accidents has them swooping in to help from seemingly out of nowhere - it's effortless, giving off the appearance of a valiant knight. You're never truly hurt whenever they're around, but know that deep inside watching you wipe out time and time again is slowly killing them lmao.
Diacinth: If he's within reach he will try to help, but he'll second guess himself halfway through and the both of you will tumble. He's on edge, and will almost start to avoid you just to avoid the panic typically associated with watching you trip to your seeming death. As he gets closer to you, he'll try his best to help from the shadows; helping with trying to accident-proof the halls and keeping an eye on you from the shadows. This often ends up with him just as injured as you however, but he's always with you to try and break the fall.
Nonnatus: Is always there to bandage you up when you fall - after a while he starts to have nightmares of the injuries he can't fix. He's constantly fretting over you, taking on the role of a mother hen. He's cursing as he walks in front of you and warns of any potential threat, clearing the way and cussing you out the whole time. He's really worried, and he hates patching you up.
Elia: They don't have all that much influence on the material world, but they do what they can, even if that means turning your neck just right so you don't snap it at the bottom of the stairs. If they weren't a ghost already Elia would swear you were going to kill them. Will yank you back from danger to the point where you're almost more injured by them than anything else. At the end of the day though most of your accidents are hilarious to them, and they will make fun of you mercilessly. They just wish your klutzyness wasn't so death-defying.
Revenant: Is on the verge of killing you himself. The sheer panic he feels every time he watches you do anything has him pulling his hair out. You're his contractor - he's duty bound to keep you safe even if that's from yourself. He's constantly grumbling about you behind your back to himself.
Vignettes of Love: The Turner Family- Chapter 8: The Big, Bad, Horrible, No Good FLU!
This is too timely, but also VERY Late.

Remembrance Day. A day that meant different things to every member of Nonnatus House, primarily because each member had been in a different location and phase of life at the end of World War I.
Sister Julienne was still known as Louise and lived with her family in Aden.
Shelagh Turner was not yet born to her parents in Inverurie, Scotland.
Not yet a doctor, Patrick Turner was in his formative years of education during the first world war.
Sister Monica Joan was one of the only members of Nonnatus to be nursing during the war.
Regardless, Remembrance Day was meant to be a celebration and remembrance of those lost to the wars that scared the 20th century; however, this year, much of Nonnatus was in no shape to celebrate.
This year an early round of influenza gripped hold of Nonnatus and much of Poplar, for that matter.
While Nurses Franklin, Dyer, and Anderson; Sisters Winifred, Monica Joan, Frances, and Hilda; Doctor Turner and the Turner Children appeared to have a mild case of influenza, Sister Julienne and Shelagh were not quite as lucky.
Shelagh's servant's heart led her to care for her children at home, including Timothy, dropping off meals for those at Nonnatus and helping as needed. Although she only contracted a mild case like the others, Shelagh's lungs were weak enough that soon after recovering from the flu, Shelagh contracted a nasty cold- which was why she was spending the day at Nonnatus when Sister Julienne fell ill. Being at Nonnatus's house gave Shelagh a chance to interact with the Sisters and the Nurses while reducing the risk of contracting another illness (as she might at the surgery). Although Shelagh had protested the decision at first, it was during the noon meal a few days later that she realized the real purpose of Patrick's push for her to stay at Nonnatus.
"Sister Julienne, are you alright?" queried Nurse Franklin
It was at that moment that Trixie Franklin exchanged looks with Shelagh. Neither was convinced this was true, as they'd watched her lose balance a handful of times throughout the morning. They both knew that they couldn't say anything at that moment because Sister Julienne was just as stubborn as Sister Monica Joan could be at times.
But Shelagh knew she couldn't stay silent any longer when she found Sister Julienne asleep at her desk around tea time that afternoon.
"Sister Julienne," called Shelagh; she knocked on Sister Julienne's office door before entering to find her asleep atop the never-ending paperwork.
It was time that Shelagh spoke up, but not before calling her husband to assist on the matter- medically, of course.
It took Shelagh several minutes once Patrick arrived to get Sister Julienne to wake.
"My dear Shelagh, is it teatime already?"
"Yes, it is indeed, Sister."
"Shelagh, is Doctor Turner joining us for tea." Sister Julienne's front was falling quickly.
If she was this tired and loopy, how much worse would she allow it to get before she sought help?
"No, Sister, he's here to have a look at you. You're not well."
"Shelagh, my dear, I'm fit as a fiddle- I simply needed a rest, and my paperwork saw to it that it happened."
At that moment, Shelagh reached forward and felt Sister Julienne's forehead burning up.
"Sister, you're burning up with fever."
At that realization, Sister Julienne finally gave in and allowed Patrick Turner to assess and diagnose her. Unfortunately, Sister Julienne fared the worst out of all Nonnatus and was sent to rest in bed. At the same time, a nasty case of Pneumonia and a severe case of the Flu ran their course, her body aided by Antibiotics and fever reducers when possible.
The habit of the nuns of the order of Raymond Nonnatus; named and explained
(The post no one wanted, but you get it anyways bc I’m an insomniac.
I’d also like to put out a disclaimer: I’ve got no idea about any sort of clerical garments and all the info in this post is researched through various sources and none of them were about Anglican nuns or Anglican religious sisters. There are definite differences between what we see in the show and what’s been discribed for catholic nuns or friars, so I’ve filtered out a lot and I’ve drawn some conclusions, if you most definitely know that there’s a mistake in my post PLEASE let me know.)
Let’s start with the basics:
Now to the finer details...
Tunic:
The tunic is a base dress worn over the undergarments.
(I’m not even sure if that’s the actual tunic or if it’s a special garment for postulants)
Scapula:
The scapula is the apron like garment worn over the tunic. It’s a rectangular piece of cloth that covers the front and back.
We see Sister Evangelina rolling it up and tucking it into her belt while riding her bike and Sister Bernadette shows how the garment is fixed with a strip of fabric to keep it from flowing wherever.
Belt:
The belt of our Nonnatuns is a white rope knotted very complicated at their left side.
We also see the end of the belt, which is knotted three times. These knots stand for their vows of poverty, chastity and obedience.
Cap:
The cap covers the nuns hair.
Guimpe:
The guimpe is the round white piece of fabric that covers the neck and chest.
Wimple:
The wimple is the white fabric which is seen the most often on our nuns heads.
And to explain this further, Sister Bernadette and the mirror:
We can see how the chin band is pulled over the cap and not attached to it. Where as the wimple is attached to it with buttons on either side.
In the last seconds we also see how the guimpe is put together at the back usually covered by the wimple.
Veil:
The veils show up during various events in the show, they wear them during Compline, for weddings, funerals and (what I termed) general special occasions. They’ve also been referred to as “prayer veils”.
The veil is a fairly long piece of black fabric attached over the wimple.
(The parallels in the wedding pic are just *chefs kiss*)
Cross:
A cross is worn by every nun and postulants, in Sister Mary Cynthia’s picture we see a smallish metal cross and in every other picture we see the nuns with a wooden cross affixed to a black cord.
Ring:
A ring is worn by every nun (not postulants) and symbolises the nuns finalised vows and their status in connection with God. The Nonnatuns wear their rings on the right hand.
I just thought of literally THE most ridiculous crossover: Warrior Nun and Call the Midwife
Aside from the obvious issue of time period (you can use the older generation of the Sister Nuns with Sister Melanie if it's really that botherseome), Anglican v Catholic nuns, and general tone of the shows, I honestly think it'd work.
Hear me out -
They go to Poplar to deal with an outbreak of demons. They stay at Nonnatus house, but the Nonnatuns don't exactly know why they're there.
Imagine:
1. Sister Julienne's utter bewilderment of opening the door and being greeted by the Sister Warriors
2. Sister Evangelina complaining about how the Sister Warriors don't partake in their religious services and go "running off into the night"
3. Sister Monica Joan fully accepting the existence of demons and rumours of the OCS to a point that the Sister Warriors think they've been busted (also Ava loves Sister Monica Joan bc she's the grandmother she never had and provides sweets. They definitely get into some sort of mischief together)
4. The townspeople witnessing the Sister Warriors in action and thinking holy shit these new Nonnatuns are not to be messed with
5. Obligatory birth scene where the nurses are delivering a baby while the Sister Warriors are fighting the husband who has been taken over by a wraith demon
6. Shelagh talking to Bea about how she left the order for love
7. Bea witnessing Patsy and Delia being cute
8. Ava goes dancing with Trixie and the other nurses when invited out
9. Camila makes everyone nettle tea after a long day
10. Fred brings the Sister Warriors into a cub scout meeting to teach the boys self-defense. Bea and Lilith are strict and manage to get the boys under control. Ava is the main distraction because she cannot stop goofing around with the boys
11. Fred gets Mary and Camila teach the Civil Defense Corps about weaponry and strategy
12. Sister Julienne finds Beatrice praying in their chapel. They talk and Sister Julienne gives Bea advice about leadership or something
