NORA FORSTER

Nora Maier Forster (6 November 1942 – 6 April 2023) was a German publishing heiress, actress and model who was primarily known as a music promoter. Before moving to London in the late 1960s, she worked in Germany with Jimi Hendrix, Wishbone Ash and Yes. In London she helped financially support the punk bands The Slits, the Sex Pistols and The Clash. She was married to John Lydon of the Sex Pistols.

Johnny perdió a su chica. Triste... Fracasó en su intento de representar a Irlanda en Eurovisión con "Hawaii", pero el intento, la buena intención, es lo que queda. En el vídeo de arriba, Lydon explicó que la canción es una “carta de amor” a su esposa ("no hay reemplazo para ella, no lo puede haber"). Después dijo que no se arrepentía de participar en el concurso por generar conciencia sobre el Alzheimer. "Hawaii" es una sencilla y sentida canción que John interpreta con emoción. Recuerda un poco a esas frágiles canciones pop de Yoko Ono, "remember love", "the snow is falling", "born in a prison", etc...

Nora foster was the ultimate outsider, even within her family; growing up on a hippie commune in vermont, all that was ever preached at her was art and creativity. what she saw around her, however, was nothing but a bunch of fakes - they may have believed in saving the world through their art, but a bunch of cheese graters attached to a wall - some with the cheese still in them - was hardly art. 

it took years of begging to get her parents to relent into letting her move into manhattan with her older sister, hazel. the lead singer in a punk rock band who played around the indie scene, hazel was everything nora wasn’t - loud and abrasive and the light of their parents eyes. but she allowed nora the freedom to finally stretch herself - to create herself. and she did so with a camera.  being forced to go to an all girls private school was the one stipulation, and while nora wasn’t overly fond of her classmates, they made for interesting fodder for her films. always eager to spill their secrets, her senior year project was a culmination of her peers - something that went viral on the internet, getting her attention for her camera work and the honesty she could pull from vapid, shallow socialites and their boyfriends and giving her the potential to skip college altogether to start her career.  but nyu had been her dream, and she’d gotten in early - she wasn’t about to turn her back on that. besides, the one thing she’d learned from her parents was that the more serious you took yourself as an ‘artiste’, the further from reality you’d become. so she graduated - a year early - from one of the top film programs in the world, continuing to make indie projects along the way.  now, she’s working on a documentary on the activist’s climb into the political spotlight - a glaring expose on how fucked our world truly has become, while highlighting those their age who wanted to change it. whether or not the subject of her documentary likes the final outcome is neither here nor there - nora’s trying to create a voice for herself, not cater to the whims of former classmates.
