My Thoughts

I love anthologies like this. I’ve read a few since first discovering them a few years ago, and I can never get enough.

Snowed In has the benefit of donating all the proceeds to Advocates for Trans Equality (A4TE), so not only do I get to read some fantastic stories, but I know my contribution is going to an amazing cause.

I also get to enjoy a few very fun takes on the same trope – being snowed in over the holidays!! With any anthology, a couple of the stories didn’t appeal to me as much as the others did, but they were all very fun regardless! I got to explore the writing styles of a couple new-to-me authors, while also relishing in the works of authors that have become staples on my digital shelves.

I really had a great time with Snowed In, and just in time for the holidays! I can be quite the Grinch this time of year (lots of family drama and trauma have made the holidays rather torturous some years). Being able to find little bits of enjoyment when I can eases the anxiety and the dread. And this anthology wad definitely way more than just a little bit of enjoyment.

OMG I just want to hug all three of the main characters. Noah, Indy and Josh are the sorts of brilliant characters I adore, they are so very, very broken and the reveal of their backstories broke my heart. Their problems stem from varying things. But regret guilt and pain are all in there. As well as physical and psychological trauma.

I like Nora Phoenix's writing style given her men. Their background and histories don't make for polite language. They are crass there is a lot of swearing and it's perfect. She also plays on something that is shown a lot. When romance novels play with dom/sub dynamic it is usually only done in terms of BDSM, Ms Phoenix shows a bottom (who I think is capable of swinging) and a submissive without any of the major BDSM cliches attached there is pain but not to the extreme. It's a nice change.

It is worth noting that No Filter (clever title given Indy's mouth) is book one in the No Shame series and directly tied to No Limits, book two creating more of a duology. A pattern continued with books three and four.

Originally this was a 4.5-star book but a scene drops the rating to a 4 star. I've already started reading book two because I like these characters, I like the world and this set up allows for continuation and happiness. I'm looking forward to seeing how this all plays out.

The No Shame series by Nora Phoenix

This series has a lot of kink. It is also is very connected. Each book still goes back previous characters, simply adding characters to the cast. I found it to be a lot on my emotions reading it. There's a Holiday book I haven't read yet but the story feels complete so I'm going to take some time.
