So this headcanon made me laugh. a lot. and norbeloved wanted it to happen too...
so yeah. super quick and rather crack ficlet.
________
“Far!” a loud voice awoke him, and Norway sat bolt upright in bed. Disorientated and confused he stared around the familiar bedroom; however something was out of place.
“Your turn,” Belarus mumbled and hid her head under the pillow “He's your son before ten,” she said; voice muffled by pillows and blankets.
_______
Children had always been something Norway felt he could handle – he had certainly raised a few in his time as a nation.
He could entertain them with stories and song; and he didn't necessarily hate the idea of having his own little family.
Granted; the life of a nation didn't follow the same rules as a life of a human.
Having children of your own usually just meant you were about to die.
However; that hadn't really stopped him from ever wanting a child of his own. Someone by his own blood. Someone a little closer than a brother.
“What are you reading?” Belarus asked, voice raspy from sleep as she rubbed her eyes.
“Just some... books,” Norway replied.
“I can see that. What kind of books?” Belarus dead-panned, glaring at him sleepily.
“Uh...” Norway swallowed nervously, and tried to move away from her before she could grasp it herself.
“Magic?” she asked, shuffling closer under the bed-covers.
“Yes..” he admitted with a mumble.
“Why?”
“No reason,” he lied. Of course he would one day tell her he rather fancied having children – but that was not something to tell her now. Not this early on.
Norway wasn't even sure if Belarus felt remotely the same about family.
Belarus frowned at his answer, but placed her head back down on the pillow; mumbling something about stupid fucking Norwegians and their stupid fucking inability to sleep. Norway smiled; despite her grumbled promise of confiscating his coffee – he knew she'd change her mind when he brought her breakfast in the morning.
Norway chuckled softly to himself, a whispered promise that he would go to sleep soon too.
After reading his book from cover to cover for any information on nations; Norway gave up.
Clearly there was nothing there that could help him.
With a frown he lay his head on the pillow and drifted off to sleep.
------
“Far!” a loud voice awoke him, and Norway sat bolt upright in bed. Disorientated and confused he stared around the familiar bedroom; however something was out of place.
“Your turn,” Belarus mumbled and hid her head under the pillow “He's your son before ten,” she said; voice muffled by pillows and blankets.
Norway stared at her in confusion before an energetic five year old came barging through the door; smiling brightly as he turned on all the lights and jumped up into their bed. Norway's eyes went wide, a child.
A little boy with his hair colour and Belarus' eyes.
A little boy who smiled so brightly Norway wasn't sure what was more blinding; the kid or the lamp in the ceiling.
“Far!” the kid shouted again, jumping up and down.
“What is it?” Norway asked somewhat hesitantly.
“Come play!”
“But it's too early...” Norway glanced at the bedside alarm that was flashing 5:30.
Someone needed to give this kid a newsflash that this was not an acceptable time to be awake at on a Saturday morning.
“No, come plaaaay,” the kid whined and Norway allowed himself to be dragged out of bed (mostly because Belarus was kicking him very hard in the sides to make them both leave).
Once out of bed and somewhat dressed (boxers and t-shirt counted as being clothed, right?), Norway tried to think of ways to calm the kid down.
It wasn't working.
He was all over the place.
Jumping, laughing, tearing things down and clinging to Norway's arms and legs as if he was a playground. The kid's behaviour was awfully familiar; annoyingly so even.
He couldn't remember that he had been this wild as a child.
Also; he was fairly certain Belarus hadn't either.
As he watched his son climb the book case like a ladder; the realisation hit him like a truckload of bricks.
Denmark.
The kid was as good as a spitting image of Denmark.
He froze and just watched in horror as the kid continued to climb the bookcase.
His son was like a mini Denmark.
A loud laugh, a wide grin and enough energy to power a small factory.
Everything about the kid's behaviour screamed Denmark.
“At least he doesn't look like him,” Norway muttered to himself.
However, as books fell from the book case, and the kid sat triumphantly on top of it all – Norway frowned.
Scratch that, he thought.
His son (was it his son?) had spiked his own hair up and the resemblance to Denmark was uncanny.
Norway shuddered.
“Far! Look!” the kid laughed and kicked another book down to the floor.
“Don't do that,” Norway scolded.
“Why not?” his son inquired, eyes wide and face the image of innocence.
“Because books are to be respected,”
“But they're boring! Play with me!”
Norway took a deep breath, closed his eyes and counted to ten.
For each second a new book fell to the ground.
This was hell.
----
He awoke in the middle of the night with a yelp; looking around the room – half expecting to see the little spiky haired child sitting by the edge of the bed.
The bedroom was back to normal; nothing was out of place.
No extra pictures or any toys on the floor.
No child...
Norway had to get out of bed and wander through the house to ensure it had all been a dream.
However; much to his joy the only person in the house was Belarus.
Sighing in relief, Norway snuggled back under the covers, arms wrapped around Belarus waist – glad that it had only been a dream.
A child would be nice, but he didn't think he'd want one as wild as that.
norbeloved replied to your post:[[MOR]you know, having a dance course at school...
i might sound rude in which case i’m sorry but you seem absolutely adorable pff and so what if you dance bad. they’re called “lessons” for a reason, aren’t they—-
by adorable you mean "bad ass and cool" right?
they give us a few pointers about how to make our "contemporary dance" look believable, but yes, they are called lessons because we don't know what we are doing and the teachers do
Hello followers! I’m going to go on a study trip to England, so I probably won’t be able to be on tumblr that much. I’ll be back in a week, so hopefully I’ll see you again then! Bye bye ❤️❤️❤️❤️
