I am definitely “Feeling Minnesota” today and missing “Nordeast” Mpls. So here’s a very small sample from a longer work in progress. It is definitely one of the longest sentences I have written. It is also in draft form. My editor is already unkind, so you don’t have to be. Thanks. :)

The drama of his youth would play out against the backdrop of Northeast Minneapolis, among that “blue-collared, leather-booted” working class that populates our rust belt mythologies: symphonies of steel meeting steel on the paralleled tracks of America’s dustier commerce; vapored plumes rising from phallic industrial stacks, then freezing in the boreal air like muted speech bubbles; third-shift sentinels leaving factories and mills, squinting against the snow’s refraction of early morning sun, then falling heavy into their beds as their children step high into yellow buses.
