Morning rant: Loki and books for kids
'Norhalla, LLC is organized for the preservation and education about Norse culture, mythology, belief and history through art and literature.'
One should really do their research before trying to 'educate' others on something
They've taken an entirely Marvel road with the depiction of Loki.
Hell, they even used a video of Marvel Loki to tell the artists what to draw him like??
That's a reason enough for me to not trust anything else they have to say, to be honest.
Loki was also associated with fire and had fire powers. His colours are red, orange and the likes of that. He was apparently depicted as a red-haired god with a moustache and a beard, horns in some depictions, who has scarred lips, due to dwarves sewing his mouth together.
I'm sorry but nothing makes me angrier when talking about Norse mythology than Marvel's depiction of Loki.
I really hate that design.
Like, not the design on it's own - I think it's very aesthetic actually.
But that design being used for Loki of all gods? Absolutely hate it.
And they are making a book for kids about Norse gods, yes, go on, lie to them while they are still young, absorb them into your Marvel's Loki-worshipping cult, it's not like most people already think of that version of Loki when hearing the name.
Don't be mistaken - I fully support actually making a book series on Norse mythology for kids, but why are you forcing the artists to draw fan art instead of the actual, 'historically correct' Loki.
Not to mention the books look really bad (Literal badly coloured stick figures throughout the whole book - kids will not be attracted to that) and are written in Comic Sans.
And these are all middle-aged adult people working on this are you fucking kidding me, at least give them historically correct stickman clothing.
Ok I was just about to post but saw another horrid thing, I can not believe it - not even all of these incredibly simplistic illustrations drawn by an adult woman are drawn individually.
Take a good look at these two wolves (?) and then these two.
Or look at Odin's face. Can they really not draw the same thing several times, do they always have to copy-paste it??
Even the scans are dreadful.
I just woke up and this is how I started my day
