"Duty-bound by Roskila, the god of brotherhood, to preserve the balance of Nornskar, the Grovetenders are easily able to change into the forms of Nornskar's native fauna to fulfill their mission."
A personal piece I started on last month of Anor Kadar, an OC from my D&D homebrew setting, turning into a brown bear!
A while back, I decided to doodle a selection of my OCs as an in-between thing while I worked on commissions. Now that I've finished the first set, I'm posting a collected version of the characters! To see each of them individually and read a small lore snippet that I took from my project files/came up with specifically for this, check the links down below:
So before magic drops March of the Machine, and potently ruins the multiverse, I would like to know what your ocs are up to!
Ah, with a bunch of OC worlds, I can talk about what happens on each of them!
On Thormundar, frankly nothing much would be happening. Life goes on, lords fight over territory and wealth, and Rowan and his adventuring team would go on and adventure to pay the bills.
The same cannot be said of the frozen plane of Nornskar.
Ormag, the leader of the Kaaldar nation, seeks to claim all of Nornskar for the Elemental race, although lately, his war council fear that his bloodlust is reaching a new high.
The Seidar, seekers of knowledge buried within the ice of Nornskar, have noticed a strange black liquid within several ice formations, and rituals using this stained ice brings forth dark nightmarish visions, if they do not kill the imbiber immediately.
These and other smaller events have greatly disturbed Roskila, the Kinar God of Brotherhood, and she has entrusted her agent, Anor Kadar, to investigate the ongoing issues.
Perhaps all these are merely coincidences, and Anor Kadar will find nothing in their search...
... Or perhaps, something else is afoot and they are already too late to stop it.
"An outlier amongst the elusive gnomes and a favoured servant of the Kinar God of Brotherhood, Roskila; Anor Kadar is a druid and unofficial leader of the Grovekeepers, a group devoted to preserving the balance of Nornskar, no matter the cost."
New artwork for my D&D homebrew, Nornskar; Anor Kadar was originally a character designed for a different D&D campaign run by a friend of mine, but when that plan fell through (and I decided to brew my own setting), I decided to transplant the character over.
Oh I have a fun ask what would the alternate art cards of your fan planes look like?
Alright! I have a two fan planes so I can talk about those. I'll also include special card frame info to pair with the art.
For the snowy plane of Nornskar, since there's already the Nordic showcase frames done by Kaldheim, I'll instead amp up the prevalence of snow cards by having Frozen showcase frames, having glowing runework on stone, with ice on sections to highlight the snow supertype each card has. The artwork would look like runestone carvings, showing the permanent or spell in action.
For the post-apocalyptic plane of Shaimar (which I should do art of one of these days), I'll highlight the set mechanic "starve" (which entails a cheaper colorless cost for spells, but comes with disadvantages) with a Drained showcase frame involving a worn rock design, with part of the frame crumbling into grey dust. The art would involve a lot of energy, with lots of visible brushstrokes or ink work.
"The Kinar god of seasons and the harvest, Folka's youthful appearance belies awesome power. Pity, then, that her peers do not afford her the respect her station deserves."
Folka is one of the gods from a homebrew setting I made recently for a Nordic-themed future D&D campaign for my friends, that I decided to paint in a moment of inspiration.
I took the idea of squirrels storing food in caches for the winter as the idea behind her role as a harvest god, which carried over to her design as a squirrel girl. While painting the throne was fun with the worn and etched wood, the collection of food was another matter, since I've not painted still lifes in a while. I tried to stick to produce that wasn't from the New World, although there were still some anachronistic elements like a green-skinned pumpkin and orange carrots.
I also wanted to make a proxy of Chatterfang, Squirrel General for my Squirrel Commander deck, so painting this was pretty handy.
what kind of “mystical archive” would your fan plane have?
Ah, alright; I get to talk about my fan plane/homebrew setting Nornskar again!
The “Mystical Archive” of this plane would contain reprints of snow cards, especially those that haven’t gotten the Kaldheim-style snow frames, or cards that have to do with snow.
