The weirdest thing is like delayed RSD. Like a close friend will say something and I'll process it logically like "oh hey yeah that made sense" but then like a solid minute later suddenly my chest is tight and I'm bordering on nonverbal.

Can I be really bitter for a moment?
Why the fuck has ADHD tumblr taught me more about my own condition than an actual stream of mental health professionals? What mental health professional hears me say "sometimes I get so mad I blackout and I know my anger is illogical but I can't control it" and doesn't look at my ADHD diagnosis and immediately recognize that it's the Rejection-Sensitive Dysphoria?
Why did I spend an actual real life decade thinking I was broken and getting punished for not completing assignments when once again this can also be the RSD but also the Executive Dysfunction?
WHY
WAS MY ONLY UNDERSTANDING OF A CONDITION I'VE BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH SINCE PREPUBESCENCE THAT IT MAKES ME HYPER AND MAKES IT HARD TO CONCENTRATE SO THEY GAVE ME A PILL TO MAKE IT GO AWAY
I THOUGHT MY RSD WAS PTSD. I DON'T ACTUALLY THINK I HAVE PTSD NOW I THINK IT'S ALL THE RSD.
GUYS. DOCTORS.
WHAT THE FUCK.

DM: And the monster rolls a nat 20 to hit
Me, a Grave Cleric: are you sure about that
I had a dream the other night that Ash's Pikachu came out as trans and I guess that's just where we're at huh
Last night during DnD the party got pulled into some dream nightmare bullshit. All five of us got sucked into some dark dream realm when we fell asleep at the inn. So my Aasimar cleric gets up and we all hold hands and start moving through the darkness. No one has any weapons or armor. We reach a house that gives us a riddle to get inside. And yet another riddle in the house (this one was a classic old English riddle because our DM is a literature major and knows this shit) before the lady who owns the house showed up.
I should mention that everything is eerily still and everything in this house glows blue. Anyway. So the lady is tall and thin with raven black hair and she introduces herself as The Widow or The Mother. We have some civil conversation and she tries to gaslight us all but my cleric has already cast Detect Evil and Good and it brought back some ghastly mix of Fey and Undead. At this point I should mention my Aasimar is a Grave Cleric and is now morally obligated to kill this thing but she doesn't start shit immediately.
It isn't until my cleric asks "you said other people wander in here? Then why is it just the six of us here as you say?"
The Mother answers "They are off minding their own business. After all, they have nothing to worry about. No obligations." Somewhere she makes statement that the people here are her children and that hits my cleric's berserk button.
At this point I should tell you that my cleric came from a noble background. A family with a history of producing Grave Clerics who were devoted to Kelemvor. Not two weeks before this encounter, her entire family was wiped out by a cult devoted to Talona and the leader of the cult cursed my Aasimar and made her become Fallen.
So naturally, my cleric, who was amicable before, shifts posture. "My family is dead and you are not my mother." Resolute.
The Mother backpedals serenely. "Surrogate mother, my child."
My cleric is having none of this. "No."
"Adoptive mother, then?"
"My family is dead and I'm nOT GOING TO LET SOME UNDEAD ABBERATION TRY TO REPLACE THEM!!"
And then our DM told us to roll initiative. I end up pretty far back in the order like always. The Mother takes her attack first and deals like 6 physical damage and 2 "psych" damage which we're using like an Insanity mechanic to our bard. Our druid is a pacifist and doesn't deal a lick of damage this entire fight, instead running around and casting cure wounds. Our fighter goes and tries to find a weapon in the kitchen. My cleric is mad and immediately starts burning spell slots. Guiding Bolt hits the Mother for 13 damage. Our rogue like strapped things from around the room onto him as makeshift armor and made a makeshift sling that he used to bean her in the back with a heavy trinket and deals 8 damage. We keep hearing skittering and there's been some allusions to a spider theme in this enemy.
At this point our DM, who is also my best friend, has been questioned about what exactly we're fighting and the DM is like "I have a custom character sheet right in front of me I swear this is a real thing"
And then a conversation from earlier clicks and I make an anguished noise "It's your nightmare from last night! IT'S THE OTHER MOTHER GUYS THIS IS CORALINE" which gets groans of anguish from our fighter and our druid because ew bugs and ew that creepy lady
Other Mother hits me for 7 physical damage and knocks my cleric prone. When the initiative comes back to I go to burn my last spell slot on another guiding bolt without getting up from being knocked prone and I crit for 36 damage. I do not let the situation parallel go unnoticed and do say abracafuckyou out of character to this spider themed villain.
This isn't enough to kill her though it takes a kitchen knife in the gut and a pebble launched magically through the heart to finish her off. Because the bard always gets the final blow.
It was fun. I had a lot of fun.
