I was feeling really fashionable today, really confident and I wasn't sure why. I realized about five minutes ago that I was wearing a red shirt and jeans; I was cosplaying Tom Scott. I am enjoying the drip nonetheless.

Just came back from a completely blind viewing of Venom 3. Not going to spoil anything (like at all, even which characters were the villains because I have no idea what things were in the trailers as I didn't see them) but as a near lifelong Venom fan this was so good! I actually felt a bit emotional at the end. I was also the only one who stayed long enough to see the final post credits scene, which felt cool.
I liked how they adapted the villains in this one, which is an improvement from the previous two. Riot was a blank slate who looked enough like Venom to be a physical mirror so that they could play out the "villain having the heroes exact powers in a superhero movie" trope, and Carnage was hindered by the lack of an R rating, and being a bit ooc in general especially in regards to Cletus not being very close to his own symbiote, when in the comics those two are closer than any other symbiote host combo which is part of why they are so dangerous. As well as the fact that he just died unceremoniously in a way he wouldn't come back from, when, as essentially a slasher movie villain with a symbiote, he should've been allowed to survive.
But enough about the previous movies, point is they made the antagonists work this time in a really clever way, taking previously unrelated concepts and syncretizing aspects to better adapt those ideas in a way that wasn't disappointing to me as a comics fan.
I will say that there is a bit less explicit symbrock content than some might've been hoping for. There's subtle signs of it but I might not be the best at detecting that, actually.
To end on a positive note, the soundtrack slaps as always with these movies.
me and who?
Everything my younger brother knows about the Cosmere from my yapping about it
(and also from me including hemalurgy in our ttrpg campaign)
All of this is in his words; I handed him my phone and told him to write whatever he knew about the cosmere. He's read Brandon's Alcatraz series but that's it. Now behold:
spook hates electrons
kelsier the kiwi knight has negative aura
vin is stoopid
spook hates light
kelsier the kiwi man plays fortnite
yumi paints nightmares
hemmalurgy should be banned and is the process of stabbing a guy, then stabbing yourselfwith the same spike to gain some randos unnaturally good health
burning aluminum takes away all ur metals
tress is an emerald sea
ferrochemmy exists
mr sands is really good at writing and one of the fastest authors alive

My Summer Reading Plan
I really enjoy the cosmere, but I don't want to be That Guy I've heard of who reads nothing but Brandon Sanderson, so once I finish the Stormlight Archive I'm not reading anything else by him till school starts again. During the semester I'll probably finish off the whole of the cosmere that's currently out, so I'll basically have to read other books between new Sanderson releases then.
Once I finish Wind and Truth I have a couple of recommendations from the book club that I want to read to escape my comfort zone: Where the Crawdads Sing by and The Naturals, so I'll run through those. After that I'll go a bit back into my comfort zone, with fantasy but still no Sanderson. Some of the books I'm thinking of are:
Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo
Wizard's Hall by Jane Yolen
The Spellshop by Sarah Beth Durst (recommended to me by @aerequets ages ago (hope it's ok that I'm pinging her for something so small))
A Wizard of Earthsea by Ursula K Le Guin
Nettle & Bone by T Kingfisher (aka Ursula Vernon(is she all right? I hadn't seen anything from her in a while... (went and checked; she did get breast cancer but her wikipedia page says "is" and she wrote a new book! Good for her)))(Anyways, I tried this when I was way younger and quickly realized it was not a kids book lol. I could probably enjoy it now though.)
Snake-eater by T. Kingfisher (found out about it in the middle of writing the post lol)
Charming as a Verb by Ben Phillipe (I liked the last one of his that I read. Also coincidentally the only man on this list)
Not sure if anybody will, well, care about this, but here it is. Lmk if you have any other recommendations or comments please!
