I truly don’t understand why people are ignoring the magnitude of this situation.
Regardless of what you think about Taylor Swifts music or even her as a person, think about what this means for smaller artists who don’t have as much success as she does? What does this mean for artists that are poc or lgbt? If these men can literally put a hold on taylor swifts entire discography to the point where she cannot even perform her own songs she wrote herself, what does that mean is happening with smaller artists who don’t have the fan base she has and don’t have the support system she has? Think about it. She is a 29 year old cis straight white female. If these men can do this to her and get away with it, what else are they doing behind the scenes that they’re getting away with?
It disgusts me that these men have her entire life’s work in their hands. It disgusts me even more to think about the sufferings that others have gone through and are potentially going through right now simply because they don’t have as big of voice as Taylor or don’t have the same privileges she does as a successful straight white female artist.
That’s what this is about. Power. Control. Hurt. This isn’t about the money anymore. In fact - I don’t think it never was. This is about trying to control a woman. This is about them trying to silence her voice. This is about them taking the entire last 13 years full of her work and claiming it as their own. They can’t control her physically, but they can control her career. They can control her emotionally and psychologically.
This isn’t drama. This isn’t another fued. This isn’t Taylor playing the victim. This is real.
