do you think eddie and will would've gotten along if they'd met?

I see no situation where they meet before the end of the world. So like Eddie doesn't die stupidly. And Will comes back from Cali. And then it's just go go go. Like I know people have made personality compatibility type takes and I fall more on the no side of this than yes in those typa situations, but also I feel that point is moot cuz if you want to join the DnD club that's all there is. Eddie is non-negotiable and I don't think Will would necessarily have to be compatible with him if he doesn't have to hang out with him later.

The real wildcard here for me is not even Eddie, it's Will. (Like yes now me too entering personality territory but not compatibility territory). But seeing Will in S4 all by his lonesome even if he was better in terms of his sexuality (which come to think of it he really wasn't but that's for another post) I actually feel now that Will made no progress in Cali at all. He allowed himself to marinate in his sadness. Here he was at a school where no one knew him and no one bullied him and maybe girls even liked him and yet he has no friends. He barely interacts (doesn't) with Max and El was literally forced into his life. I don't think he does well with new people. Something we ascribe to Mike for many reasons but I find myself disagreeing as I type.

So I feel if in a fantastical situation he didn't go to Cali, Hopper too didn't die so El's still in the cabin or hidden and maybe there's some party time DnD wise at school or Hopper dies El moves in with Joyce and he still has Mike coming over doing his Mileven shit. Max is not talking to them which makes zero difference to Will let's be honest. Lucas has basketball. So it's Dustin n him. Dustin is the charismatic one of the two. So I see Will tagging along playing the game and getting the fuck out. All of this yapping to say. Eddie and Will is a fanfiction concept but to try and put it in the show's universe faithful to it somewhat (imo is always implied) I feel like it's an entirely inconsequential dynamic. Where there's no great bond nor there's any disapproval. Will sassing Eddie? Ya won't happen. Will making Eddie change the date for basketball? Nope. He may not play the game, but dude's gonna be as useless as Dustin and Mike at convincing Eddie to change the date.

In any case the ones great at making multigenerational friends are Dustin and Erica. So ya Will and Eddie are nothing. Lucas and Eddie level camaraderie. No one's doing it like Dustin. Sorry.

What exactly is piggyback?(/gen /strange)

So like this is a question and well whatever the hell I'm thinking about piggyback and just in general the logistics of S4 battles.

Rambly. Not even trying not to be.

So. So far when El has "fought" monsters it's been physically. She was in their presence. RU/UD.

For piggyback she is fighting vecna in a middle plane. Okay how?

She resuscitated Max also while not being physically present there.

She only made herself visible to Will before in S1 in the void. And afaik he is the only one who could actually interact with her in the void apart from the demogorgon. So maybe we can say anyone connected to the hivemind can break into the void and set up 2 way comms. Also Terry. But she could herself also void walk I'm supposing.

An outlier is Heather. Who says help me and is then taken under into a bottomless bathtub. (Probably showing her getting sucked by the mind flayer journey) But how did she see El? Or did she see her precisely cuz she was mid turning? Then why did El not see Billy around? Maybe he wasn't. Also El never sees the flesh monster in the void. Always face to not face.

In other cases it's El being a spectator. There was the one line about Mike "sensing" her in the void. But it is neither here nor there. He was holding a walkie. He did say Eleven before she said Mike but I'm still unsure of how much relevance that has. GENUINELY. Clueless.

Her and veccy have a mind fight which affects her physically while vecna himself is not affected physically until the Hawkins crew molotovs his ass and shoots him. He does FEEL pain in his mind lair through the hive mind but physically he's still doing aerial yoga until the crew double fries him.

Also seen in s2 that what happens to the hive mind can affect you in that in can make you feel pain but it does not PHYSICALLY harm you. Everyone burns you feel the burn but you don't actually burn. As they were trynna get the shadow particles out oh his body. They first try to boil him or whatever. But b4 that he felt pain when the military/police burned the vines n he fell on the field. Now towards the end. The vine burning started way before the shadow monster was out of Will and it seemed like it got out once the tunnels started burning. Which begs the question why was Will boiled at all? Or why did his paladin not give a fuck after making a whole show and dance about how if the hivemind dies will dies. Which again. Makes no sense. Cuz Will's still in there? So either you wait for the monster to detach itself fully before you start burning the tunnels or it does not matter and the monster would've left anyway. Did not save Will from any pain AT ALL.

Mike went in to save his bbygal El. Sorry but Will was not even on his mind. He wanted to be a hero. As he usually does and if he doesn't get to do that he gets pissy. But bro your soulmate or whatever could've died. Hoes before other hoes I guess.

Anyway. Back to the piggyback. Veccy started losing his hold on the hivemind after a multipronged multinational attack on the hivemind. And El too blasted him with the power of turu lob. But it was only when he was flambed and tandoored and flung like a rumali roti was he physically damaged. (Not destroyed tho cuz of his trace mineral rich diet in the UD)

So now another question. I've lost track. How tf did El restart Max's heart in the void? Max was not even present mentally. Deadest of dead. N then through the void here comes El giving her life because.... because.... erm .... hea.....

Also unrelated. Did max not lose her eyes cuz El blasted Veccy off before he could perform the world's worst lobotomy? Or? What's the difference? Since that's the last/2nd last in the sequence. Even her jaw is spared. So I guess yeah he was interrupted. He could take her life but not her jawline.

Why is the fandom so weird about Finn and Noah's appearences and body type? Finn is constantly get babygirlified in a false narrative bc people see him as 'soo gender' bc he is tall and slim, they even apply eating disorder to Mike? When there is nothing that points to that on the show (if you do not reach). Lets not act like it is not because of overfocusing on Finn's appearence. They are also so weird abt Noah, and it is just more uncomfortable due to him being gay. This overfocusing on someone's masculinity and not is so weird especially when people project it onto Will to erase his canonical gnc'ness when we know he has been shamed for being like that. And people getting weird because Noah has an ass? Like idk what to tell you but people are not in the wrong when theu draw Will as having a butt or as his canonical gnc portrayal. You (neutral you) are, in fact, making it weird by capitalizing on the butt aspect so much though or insisting on making him buff.

Overfamiliarity. Incredibly BORING definitions of what passes as OBVIOUSLY gay (☂️). I dis/agree about the ED takes as they're not solely reliant on his physique. But they're not devoid of relying on those. I guess it depends whose justification you read. Matters not to me since I disagree with all.

Will having a butt is canon. They're giving him tight pants. The cast too have spoken about it. They gave him short shorts. I think it's their way of showing his flamboyance or preference towards not loose clothing unlike the other boys in his group and even the teens.

It's easy to make anything weird if you put your mind to it. And we know the fandom has an overactive imagination generally. But in ways antithetical to the supposed message of the show and hell even the legacy of Tumblr.

The reversal confuses me because I genuinely feel there is no sweeping intent tying all the people who partake in it. People do it cuz of Noah Finn weirdness. Or sometimes it's to kind of make byler feel more equal. Let's switch what's happened so far. Canon is superior simply cuz it's canon. It's superior even with its flaws and imperfections and bad execution and misplaced intentions and all that jazz. Because that's the only truth that can be debated upon.

Headcanons are their own thing and have fun go ham.

Fanon is rust. And we have seen it fucking up the fandom machinery. It basically checks a lot of the boxes to classify as orwellian. But it's a silly show so I feel silly saying it. But ya.

My take is that they don't know. Queer and fag and fairy were also general insults of the time as seen by Steve calling Jonathan a queer. Omission is not subtlety. You (writers) gimme crumbs and I will say they know. But there's none to suggest that. They're protective of him because of his timid nature and their awareness of his home and school life being nothing but a never-ending chorus of "ya gay zombie boy". They do know that it affects him. Lucas was just as protective of the Zombie Boy moniker as we see when he tells Max that he's sensitive about the whole thing.

For the Party to have even considered he's gay I would need at least a throwaway line positive / negative about BEING queer. To show that it's a concept they've given actual thought beyond its weaponisation as a slur which was rampant in the 80s. But none of that happens. It's more on the lines of don't call him that or don't make fun of him. None of the party members even VAGUELY let Will know that it'd be okay anyway if you ARE or that we KNOW you ARE NOT. On the contrary we do have a scene that goes in the opposite direction. Un/intentional matters not. It's about how Will takes it. And there's no reason to believe he understood Mike wasn't being homophobic. Which again homophobia itself can be un/intentional. Idk if Mike knows he was being homophobic. We say he was because we associate it with our knowledge of homophobia and that it sounded something like the established homophobes on the show would say. And that is knowledge Mike had ergo he was wrong. I hope I'm explaining this well.

I simply think they have not given a thought about homosexuality as a sexuality at all. Except for Mike post puberty, duh. But even then I don't think Mike's thoughts about Will's homosexuality differ from those of the other boys. Like to him it's an insular existence as a gay boy in Hawkins. He truly does think he may be the only one ACTUALLY gay.

The Party refers to the boys. Idts Max and El have any thoughts about this at all.

P.S. Like Jonathan. He didn't even say anything. But him looking at Will like that in the van scene is the first time we see a character other than Will acknowledging/considering Will's gayness.
