THERE IS ANOTHER APP/WEBSITE
Ourcana — a tarot-inspired plural system viewer
I haven't looked much into it but it supports imports from Simply Plural and PluralKit and has terminology settings as well.
Idk anything else, I literally just heard about it, but, throwing it out. There is hope!

P.S. THEY'RE PRO ENDO
do you know where else to go? 😟
I looked around a number of suggested replacements. I haven't found an option I actually like, but.
Octocon is the most similar. Apparently the SP dev helped a lot with it. But it lacks a lot of stuff. I didn't look around for very long, but as far as I saw, there's no chat function, there's no custom fronts (and they get exported as members), there's no buckets, you can't tag other members in profiles, and I don't think I saw the ability to make captions or notes on fronts either.
The only things I saw that SP doesn't are very minor and cosmetic and not worth having a whole other app, I don't understand why they made it in the first place, but if you can get over the fact that they are sysmedicalist, the app explicitly has "DID/OSDD" in the name and is marketed towards pwCDD's, and it calls members alters and provides no alternative, then I guess that's your best option. The exporting certainly helps. It takes your custom fields too so as far as I noticed in my brief look, all you gotta do is address tags, sort through CF's, adjust the privacy settings of your custom fields and get your friends added. And maybe address embedded images, idk if it supports that. Or what the markdown is like. But it is similar. But the people suck ass. I looked around this one the most of everything but I just. Looking at it filled me with rage.
Then there's Ampersand. It's been picking up recently and is also really similar to SP. I know @radiosquad / @gordon-freesystem has been trying it out, maybe & can talk about it?
I didn't get the opportunity to look around much because after trying to figure out how the fuck to import SP to it [you need to export your data, download the json file, and upload it to the app] and waiting at least 10 minutes for it to load, it was frozen and wouldn't move at all. We've heard a lot that it stalls for large systems so I imported before looking around the app intentionally to see how it handled nearly 400 profiles and. well yea it didn't like that. So I can't tell you much about it but, it only works for smaller systems right now, and it doesn't have a friends function. Also it's isolated to your device I think, I don't think it had me make a profile.
The only other thing meant for systems that we know of is Lighthouse. It was suggested to me today, but I didn't look through it today. We already have an account for the One person who used it, but we Do Not Like It. You can't make custom fields, they're pre-determined, and more importantly, they're all bullshit like "perceived species" which is just. no.
However, it does allow you to pick between "alters" and "headmates," so that's nice. I looked for such a feature on Octocon, no such luck, not that I'm surprised considering their notorious sysmedicalism. It also has a lot of pretty themes to choose from.
But most notably, its primary function is having personal journals. Also iirc there's some kind of somethings about exploring your innerworld and self treatment for dissociation idk we didn't look at that stuff and it was years ago. But it's very different from SP.
As for things that aren't geared towards systems, there's OC sites like toyhouse [but it needs an invite code 🙄] and CharacterHub [.com] which, I didn't wanna fuck with it but if you're equipped for learning a new site then it looked like a really good option as far as the information tracking part.
Other things you could use for information tracking are Obsidian, Notion and Milanote. Milanote was one of the things suggested to me today; I don't think it's a very good option, at least for us, but I'm listing it anyway. Notion is... idk... we tried to make an identity term archive on it last year and it's. complicated and I don't think it's that good an option. But it could work. Better than like. Google Docs. And Obsidian... we've heard about systems using it but I think when I tried to look into it I couldn't. go anywhere. so. I got nothing. I think @truthwithlight uses it, though idk if it uses it for plurality.
As for the chat function, a lot of systems use Antar, an app meant for what appears to be like, self-lead IFS therapy. For creating different "personas"/parts so they can talk to each other. Apparently there's a bit of profile ability but not much I don't think, not enough. Twinote was also suggested to me but I don't think that's a good option...
By the way... Website only: CharacterHub and toyhouse App only: Antar, Obsidian, Twinote Both: Octocon, Notion, Milanote
Personally since neither Ampersand nor Octocon work for us, I think we're gonna make a Discord server or something...
We already use the front function on PK. And we already have multiple journal servers, as well as an image archival server, plus a PK work server. We spend a lot of time on Discord and have made a LOT of servers of all kinds so it would be easy and convenient.
Supports markdown and images, we can use PK, we could technically leave messages for people in their channels, make notes in threads, keep track of front history, tag other members by channels.
Main thing we would lose is folders. Categories aren't a good substitute for that. But we could have a list of what folders there are and how they fold out, or rather a list of tags, and list them somewhere in the channel. We did that for our server for the aforementioned Notion archive. It's not great... but with our proficiency, we can work with it.
It'll be annoying. It won't be perfect. It's gonna suck, no matter where we move, for so many reasons, but. It was my first thought. I looked for other options. I considered each of them. This is our best option. I hope everyone else finds what works best for them too.

Would anyone be interested in a Discord server to work on migrating from the fallen apps?
Yes
No
Would include channels to talk about it and VC's to body double and screenshare
If I make it I'll put it in comments and reblog

Octocon is also Shutting Down
Following is a copy paste of the announcement.
I have made the decision to retire the Octocon project. Our servers will be fully shut down in around 2 weeks, and our CDN (to download your avatars) will be shut down at a later time. New account registrations have been disabled. I no longer have the mental capacity to work on this project. I am physically unable to continue developing Octocon given the negative impact it has on my mental health, which is only predicted to grow worse as we expand. You do not have to agree with this decision; my only ask is that people do not pry me for more information. Especially so soon after Simply Plural announced their discontinuation, I genuinely cannot put into words how sorry I am that I had to make this decision. The ability to export your data to PluralKit's format has been implemented in the Discord bot; you can do this with the /export format:PluralKit command. This will allow you to transfer your Octocon user data to any platform that supports PluralKit's import format. You can also use /export format:Full to receive a full copy of your data, which cannot be imported elsewhere unless other platforms implement Octocon imports. Full exports will not include journal entries, as they are encrypted. For app users, you will have to wait until Google and Apple approve a new build that provides this functionality on the app-side. There is unfortunately nothing I can do about this; I will make another announcement when app-side data exports are available. In the meantime, you may export your data if you have a Discord account linked and use the bot, but I understand this is not feasible for everyone given the controversial nature of Discord. Our servers will be shut down 2 weeks after Google and Apple approve our build with data export functionality. An announcement will be made in the future clarifying this.
Why are you not transferring the project to someone else?
I do not feel safe handing off our users' data to another individual, even if some of it is encrypted. With the data we handle being as sensitive as it is, I could never consider this an appropriate solution.
What hope does Octocon have in the future?
Octocon (both the backend and the app) is fully open-source under the extremely permissive MIT License. People are free to fork us and restart development as they wish. All I ask is that any forks are not marketed directly using Octocon's name, logo, or branding to avoid confusion. Our codebase is very complicated, and our infrastructure-specific code is deeply entangled with our actual codebase in some places. It would likely take someone with a lot of knowledge and countless hours of time to get things going. Our dev Dockerfile would be a good place to start.
What about patrons?
If you currently have an active Patreon subscription and would like a refund, DM me and I'll refund you for this month. If not, your funds will simply serve to shrink my deficit towards March's server bills. I cannot profit from them. My Ko-fi will be shut down soon, and further Patreon subscriptions will be closed, as I am not comfortable collecting money from our community if there is no project to fund.
Once again, please reblog.
I'm sorry if this isn't the place for this but I am just. So pissed off. I've been trying to give Atlas (octos dev) the benefit of the doubt - he spun a narrative about being in heavily sysmed spaces in his introduction to plurality, he blamed his bias on a lack of nuanced information, I wanted to believe he'd educated himself and moved on because god knows I could have gone down the anti endo hole *real* fast if I didn't find the right friends early in my discovery - but this new stuff is bullshit
Anyone acting like the outrage over octo pulling the rug is entirely uncalled for or just as unreasonable as what happened with sp are being willfully ignorant. I'm not mad if you can't handle the influx of people from sp, I'm not mad if you need to take distance for your mental health, I'm mad that you're a fucking liar. 72 hours before an announcement that the app is going down in two weeks - literally going offline BEFORE THE APP YOU BRANDED YOURSELF A REPLACEMENT FOR does! - you made a massive post and reinforced that not only did you have no plans to discontinue, you would give ample time if it ever did happen. And now it's two weeks.
There are two options here. Either you wrote that, knowing you were lying and knowing you were struggling, or you somehow snapped in the span of three days and decided to blow it all up. Neither is flattering for you. I didn't buy a lot of the drama about SP scamming money - SP+ was in beta for years, it wasn't ever making a profit, and from talking to other people, most didn't even know it existed - but Atlas making a big post and emphasizing that he spends ~$200 out of pocket every month, plugging his Patreon and Kofi, and then turning around to pull the plug on it all - that feels scummy. That feels intentional.
I'm not mad at Atlas for closing octo. I'm mad about it, but I will never shame another mentally ill person for taking the steps they need to survive. But I'm fucking furious that he lied to our faces. And I'm fucking pissed that a large majority of Tumblr is acting like that nuance isn't allowed and like we can't be angry at the outright betrayal that just happened.
This is fine, but for future reference we do also run @plural-rambles! And also @plural-winventory for exclusively positive stuff. (To clarify, PR is not exclusively negative).
We don't follow Octocon so a lot of this is new information to us but, yea. We are mad at Amaryllis honestly. Yea they're struggling but they could have just stopped updating and should have hired someone to maintain the servers. We don't want anything to do with the conspiracy theories either, those feel purely reactive. Atlas though? Fucking yikes. And Ampersand? Even worse than Octocon now???
This whole thing is a fucking mess. And three of the biggest plural apps going down in the same fucking week is ridiculous, it's totally understandable to theorise because what the actual fuck.

i just want to sound the alarm that i got banned from the SP server for asking too many questions. i made a post ab it on this acc.
What the fuck
Hello! I want to ask something regarding endos. What is your understanding of endogenic systems, and why do you support them?
I’m not asking this to be accusatory or attack yall or something, I just genuinely want to understand other people’s perspectives on the matter and get different opinions.
An endogenic system is any system that is not exclusively traumagenic, and we support them because anything is possible, we believe people when they explain their own experiences, we support all identities, and because we are spirigenic ourselves. Simple as that.
