Thinking about how Alex doesnt really value himself. not in a neccesarily suicidal way, by any means, always valuing survival for the sake of survival, but he just doesn't really think about himself.

He pays little mind to his appearance, cares little for the opinions of others. Acts just to act, and the beliefs he holds are the reflection of other people's, not his own. He is prideful, but not of himself as a concept, merely his belief in success of his actions. He just doesn't pay much mind to *himself*.

Which can make it very startling in moments when someone makes comments *about* him.
