He has done plenty of things though but I believe Masa considers them more or less obvious things to be done or he simply thinks of his negatives sides on this too much.
But I think his braveness was still more quiet sort? Like how he stepped out from his position and gave it to Bunnosuke because that was in the end what saved the family from the dissolution and joined to the Five Leaves to take responsibility of the family debts and all that. (It’s true that his uncle basically asked him to leave but he gave Masa the position within the domain that Masa also left and so on)
