I've been watching old VODS and clips recently and hearing Jerma talk about his experiences with disability and chronic pain has been so comforting in a way. (I'm not sure if he considers his ulcerative colitis to be a disability but based on the way he talks about it I think it's a fair assumption/comparison)
Just hearing someone I look up to and appreciate so much talk about something I relate to that many other people just don't/can't understand is really nice. Especially hearing him talk about having to step away from things you love, and the constant process of going through a bunch of doctors and treatments trying to figure out what's going on. It's so painfully real.
It's such a hard reality to live and he gets it. I guess it stands out to me because my disabilities dictates so much of my life so having someone I already find comfort in talk about it makes me feel seen, and that is a rarity for me.
He really does inspire me, in that he continues to do what he loves despite everything, not by pushing through but by doing what he needs to do to accomodate himself. Maintaining hope with chronic illness is always a struggle; he inspires me to not give up.
Shout out to all the disabled Jerma fans, I see you and I love you. Remember to sparkle on ⋆˙⟡ <3
