I'm surprised I haven't seen anything about this cross my dash yet, because it's been exploding in the webcomic creatorsphere, especially on twitter.
Long story short, after months of business decisions that have actively hurt the creators who post on their platform, up to and including putting creators in a position where they have to adopt a more videogame-dev-like crunch culture to keep up in popularity rankings/revenue, Webtoon decided it would be genius marketing to put these utterly tone deaf ads up in subways:

Webtoon made over $100mil a month off its creators in 2021 and Lore Olympus is one of its big moneymakers that got opted for a streaming series, and yet they still can’t bother to treat the people they’re profiting from with any respect because “lol, it’s just comics”.
See the #notasidehustle tag on twitter for more reactions by creators, who are understandably extremely pissed at this belittling of their efforts.
