everything I do here, I think i can replace with something else, somewhere else.
i can just start having fights about politics with people IRL, and start publishing essays of meta analysis about the movies/tv shows i watch and books/comics i read on @ao3org. the art and photography I use tumblr to find and enjoy will be harder to replace—but not impossible.
actually, it would be cool if everyone started publishing more analysis of media on ao3. IIRC, that falls within the bounds of their mandate. and tumblr likes to swallow posts whole never to be seen again, so having a more concrete space to maintain and save those kinds of essays would be beneficial regardless of what happens with the notespocalypse.
Imagine if, instead of twitter, forums were still the elite platform for internet communication, and tumblr kept adding features to make it more like a web forum. Like maybe they'd create a feature where you could automatically add a signature to the bottom of all your posts, but the way they implemented it would also add the signature to blank reblogs and make reblog chains unreadable.
hey, wait a minute. can @changes even coherently keep track of all the replies they're asking for on their posts, given how the update works?
notes
im exhausted! 30 minutes of hell! will the post I made during those stressfull minutes ever appear? or nah? staff?
why why are they gone I need validation goddamnit
