I am a huge fan of @jlo, but I resent the fact that most images of her have the reality photoshopped out of her face. #WTF 🤷🏻♀️and Why don’t @facebook and @instagram institute a ban on #filters, #facetune, #photoshop and things that make us feel shitty about ourselves? 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻Well wait a minute... that’s potentially everything on @instagram. What images are damaging for people to see? This is not a question for social media and @jameelajamilofficial to legislate. This is a societal question. Access to information about plastic surgery should NOT be restricted. Forget about teens feeling unworthy from diet tea ads. What about us women feeling unworthy because of every filtered image we see? What’s next @facebook? Are we going to be banning models, infuencers, and makeup artists practicing deception?🤷🏻♀️ This is a societal question. Why does an aging woman lose relevance? And why do we photoshop our flaws to this extent? Human nature admires beauty. I believe this is good and universal. I seek to find beauty in every person I meet, but I also want real women to run this world. I don’t want women’s worth to be solely appearance based. Sorry @jlo, this makes me mad. You are a role model, mother & businesswoman. You have a responsibility to help change the conversation about women and age. I do too. We all do. We should not make women feel this body deception is okay. Young people need to like themselves without filters and that’s even becoming hard for me. I love the confidence I inspire in people. But our bodies are our vehicles to live this life, and we can pursue beauty, if we maintain love of who we are. I need role models for my daughters who are real and #notfiltered every. single. day. What about ethical business standards for your audience? I hope people in this industry will think about fighting unrealistic photography and protest a ban that is useless when we are surrounded by false beauty. Become a woman of character and substance.
