This is the second time I have read this book, which says alot because there is very few books which I have gone back to reread. This though, was an easy choice for me to pick up. I absolutely love the book, the film, that's a bit meh but a story for another time.
Dashner has a way of gripping me from the first page. As soon as I lay my eyes on the first word of the page I am completely hooked. Every page makes me want to know more, every chapter ends in the perfect way, making me want to carry on reading. It makes me feel it's not a good place to stop, something exciting is just about to happen.
The way the author sets the scene is beyond perfect. I honestly feel like I am there with the gladers, running with Thomas and Minho. I can hear all of the whirring sounds of the grieves, crashing into the sides of th maze. When reading this book I dont see the pages in front of me, I see the maze walls and my fellow gladers by my side.
Through the whole story there is not one part which I think was any less action-packed than the rest. The whole story, from start to finish is completely filled.
The way James portrays each and every character makes me love and hate them, just at Thomas does. I mean, if anyone says they actually like Gally I think they're lying to you! The telepathic bond Theresa and Thomas has is just perfect. Personally, I have no experience with telepathy but I now feel I know exactly what it feels like.
The grievers I am completely petrified of, well not so much now that I know they can be destroyed. They are so original, I haven't seen or heard of anything similar.
As for the ending. Well, even on the second time of reading it, it brought a tear to my eye. Chuck was one of my favourite characters from the beginning, adding Thomas's promise into the mix and it makes him a whole lot more lovable. Making his sudden death much more heartbreaking. Much like the chapters, the ending left me wanting more. So as soon as I closed this book the second one got opened. Almost as swiftly as just turning the page.

If there is just one series I recommend you read, it's this one.
