Mwt Nut ~ YeYe Yemonja

both Nut and Yemonja are considered mothers of major deities/energies in their respective spheres. as Nut spreads out over the planet and our galaxy, Yemonja has seeped from her river in Nigeria to become the ocean for diasporans destined to become "motherless children". 

my experience of Yemonja has been of a loving, all-embracing mother. She often illustrates the magick in the mundane and nuances inherent in the transformative power of water. 

technically, i am a daughter of Oshun, but one that has come to consider herself a child of two waters. i've always loved the ocean, and Yemonja has revealed Herself to me just as fully and lovingly as my dear YeYe Oshun.  

ie ie m ab-k mut-k...the ocean is the heart of my mother.  with all the lights, cities and noise, one of the few places on earth Nut can spread out is over the oceans. it's also one of the few places we can take in the magnitude of her wondrous, star-filled body. 

Nu(n), Nut's male counterpart, is a representation of the primordial waters that made organic life on earth possible. Nut acts as vessel and container, giving shape and form to Nu's waters.
