So, in Korean culture, seniority is kind of a big deal. For any member of NU’EST to perform Mansae on a show meant to prove worth and skill as idols would have been a rather humiliating task. Minhyun’s statement is nothing against Seventeen, and I’m sure under any other circumstance, NU’EST would have loved to have performed Mansae. But to perform it when the challenge is a senior cover challenge, when Seventeen is their junior group? Under the same company? A group in which they are constantly compared to? Yeah, nobody in that situation would have reacted differently. At least not in Korea.
