remembering how uninformed the general public is about nuclear power makes me so sad. i asked my cousin why she thinks theyre bad and she said "well they release radiation into the air, and also they explode" and she didnt believe me when i said that theyre literally just cloud makers, and that chernobyl was an isolated event caused by human incompetence. five minutes of research and youll figure this out. guys

According to Axios, who quoted Three U.S. Officials and Two Israeli Officials; an Active Top-Secret Nuclear Weapons Research Site was targeted and destroyed during the Israeli Strike Operation against Iran, which occurred in Late October. The Site, known as “Taleghan-2” located within the Parchin Military Complex roughly 20 Miles to the Southeast of Tehran, was previously used for Iranian Nuclear Research and Development, but was believed to have been Inactive since around 2003. However, in the last year both U.S. and Israeli Intelligence had observed Activity at the Site which suggested they had begun Nuclear Research once again; with the White House having issued a Direct Warning to the Iranian Government in June about the Activity and its potential Consequences. Operations at the Facility are believed to have only been known by a Handful of Iranian Officials, allowing Israel to send Iran a Message that it knows more about its Nuclear Program than even its Government.

The Accelerator Building has been home to feats of nuclear science since its construction nearly 80 years ago, and this year it will make way for a new engineering and science facility. Revisit the machines it was built to house.

Nuclear reactor starting up.. The blue light is from electrons moving through the water causing Cherenkov radiation

For general information, that is not how reactors normally start up. What they are doing is a specific type of experiment that only a specific design of reactor can do. When the blue light fades away at the end, that is actually the reactor starting to shut itself down without any intervention from the operators. It’s a design characteristic of most reactors in use today, the lack of which was one of the problems with old Soviet designs. Sorry for the extra info, just don’t want people scared about nuclear. I promise I’m not very smart.

Ya girl’s got a sick research job with the nuclear materials group! I do electronics and safety protocol stuff to make sure experiments are run safely and without needing human intervention.

Being a scientist/engineer is rad!!
