hi!! i have a question for you...i always love seeing your book recs and i was wondering if you have any recommendations for poetry or essays about bodies, specifically the distinction drawn between body and self under capitalism (lmk if that isnt clear enough lol)...im ideally looking for stuff about transness and/or disability but ill take any recs you might have! tysm
great question! my first thought was Johanna Hedva's essays, "Sick Woman Theory" [x] and "In Defense of De-Persons [x]
There's also this excerpt from "Notes on Cure, Disability, and Natural Worlds" by Eli Clare (+++ the rest of his oeuvre!), as well as chapter 3, "Un/bounding: Writing Water Worlds" in Petra Kuppers's Eco-Soma [x]. There's also the cnf text Trans Girl Suicide Museum by Hannah Baer, which discusses the nexus of these issues extensively!
For poets, I highly recommend David Wolach, Stacey Waite, Kim Hyesoon, and Shane Neilson.
Lastly, for the folks following at home –– I try to do this in my work!)
