Iran Sets New Condition on Nuclear Inspections, Links Access to Final Deal and Sanctions Relief
Iran has announced that international inspectors will not be granted access to its nuclear facilities until a final agreement is reached with the United States. The move adds a new layer of complexity to ongoing negotiations aimed at resolving long-standing disputes over Tehran’s nuclear program.
Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi stated that inspections by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) will only be considered after a comprehensive agreement is finalized and meaningful steps are taken to lift economic sanctions and other punitive measures imposed on the country.
Tehran also rejected recent calls by IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi for renewed access to nuclear sites, arguing that inspection demands cannot be separated from broader negotiations on sanctions relief. Iranian officials emphasized that facilities affected by recent attacks remain off-limits and that decisions regarding monitoring arrangements will be addressed only within the framework of a final deal.
