I started this in October '23. Finished it today.
I really need to work on my motivation / timekeeping 😓
Anyways, a small tribute to the silent stars of animation. Or some of them anyway ⭐
❤️😸💕 Happy Friday, everyone! We made it to another weekend! Can you dig it? Thinkin' about this cool Cat today. I miss you, your sense of humor, and our conversations and emails, Gene. But severely proud to have been able to have called you a friend and mentor. #Nudnik #NudnikRemembered #NudnikRevealed #GeneDeitch #RIPGeneDeitch #RecordChangerMagazine #TheCat

According to my investigations, nudnik comes from the Russian nudnyi, which means to bore. In Yiddish the verb is nuden. However, the Hebrew nad refers to movement, and its derivative, nidnud, means a repetitive swinging motion, which describes the behaviour of the nudnik pretty well.
It appears noodnik and nudnik are both right, but nudnik is more right.
Interesting glow on the last panel.
I read about this post here and It made me think of what if the Kineceleran kids were just various types because apparently Kinecelerans would get sick on Earth within a few days due to the slow rotations. It made sense due to the planet they were born in.
I only kept ML-E as a Kineceleran because she’s epic.
A semi-remake of Tom and Jerry's infamous short, "Dicky Moe". Awoken on a pirate ship, Nudnik is caught off-guard by a bearded captain who commands him to swab the deck. A killer whale soon enters the scene and the captain tries to catch him with a harpoon, but Nudnik ends up hurling on top of the killer whale's water spout. He sighs, thus closing the short.
A semi-remake of Tom and Jerry's infamous short, "Carmen Get It!". Nudnik wakes up out of nowhere in a group of musicians performing for an Italian opera song entitled, "The Barber of Seville". But when he causes trouble for the conductor with his clumsy antics, hilarity ensues. At one point, he briefly takes the role of conductor before the real conductor returns.
