“Honey?” Diego’s voice echoed around the quiet apartment while he stepped inside. He scrunched his eyebrows in worry when he didn’t get anything in return.
You heard him stumble like always when he tried to take his shoes off without holding onto anything nearby. Usually, you’d at least smile at that action, but today you couldn’t muster up the energy to do so. Hell, you couldn’t even remember when was the last time you left the bed to take a shower or eat something that wasn’t dry cereal.
When you heard Diego’s steps nearing the door to your bedroom, you pulled the comforter even further up your face. You didn’t want him to see you this way, but what could you possibly do when he was already outside the door to your room?
You wanted to tell him to go away and leave you alone, but the words wouldn’t escape your parted lips no matter how much you wanted to get them out.
There was a soft knock on the wooden door before it opened wide with a painful creak.
“There you are,” Diego said when his eyes found your silhouette hidden underneath the covers. His voice turned cheerful now that he’s found you. “What are you doing in bed? It’s afternoon.”
He stepped closer before sitting down on the edge of the bed, his hand gently pulling off the comforter so he could look at your beautiful face. But when your eyes didn’t meet his, and a smile didn’t take over your features, he took a deep sigh.
“It’s back, isn’t it?” Diego reached out his hand to push a lonely strand of hair away from your forehead.
You nodded weakly in response, and it was all it took for your partner to spring into action. He left your side for a few minutes disappearing into the bathroom before you could hear the sound of running water. When he came back, he quickly threw the covers off of you and lifted you up into his arms. You looked at him confused while he carried you towards the bathroom.
“Diego, what are you doing?” you asked, holding onto his neck with your arms loosely thrown over his shoulders. You didn’t have to worry about falling because Diego would never let that happen.
Inside the bathroom, he sat you down on the edge of the tub, helping you get out of your clothes so you could step into the bubbly water. You curled your legs up, resting your head on your knees and watching how the water rippled with your movement before it stilled again.
Diego took care of you, gently splashing the warm water onto your back and arms. He even washed and conditioned your hair, sculpting a mohawk on top of your head and making you smile weakly at his antics. His heart flapped cheerfully at that sight, and he wished that grin would stay on your face forever.
When the water got cold, Diego decided it was time to finish the bath. He helped you climb out of the bathtub and left you in the room alone so you could dress in the clothes he placed on the edge of the sink. In the meantime, Diego grabbed your laptop from the desk and put on one of your favorite shows. He thought about running to the kitchen to get some snacks but decided against it because he wasn’t sure if he would even find anything in the cupboards.
Entering the room, you frantically searched for your partner’s silhouette. At first, you didn’t really want him to see you in this state, but his presence made the bad thoughts in your head too foggy to focus on. Diego’s gentle words and touch made you feel lighter and more present. You weren’t sure you could get out of your mind that fast without him.
“Chop chop, get in,” Diego’s voice beckoned, making your eyes snap in his direction, and in what seemed like seconds, you were already crawling underneath the covers beside him. “Still too far away.” The man sighed, pulling you closer, so your side was pressed tightly to his body.
“Thank you, Diego,” you mumbled after a few minutes of silence between you. You were so lucky to have him in your life.
“What are you thanking me for?” He kissed your forehead, leaning his cheek on the top of your head. “I’m just here for you to remind you how strong you are. And you’ll get through whatever is bothering you, love.”
Diego will make sure of it. He wasn’t going to leave you alone with your thoughts.

summary: diego’s not your everyday hero—and thank goodness for that.
a/n: i love him i love him i love him oh god,,,,,, i am in my diego feels tonight so here’s a few quick thoughts i busted out in like 20 minutes💕✨
✖️✖️✖️
-the way you two first meet??
-honestly,,, not your typical meet-cute by a long shot
-diego’s bored one night—the police radio he’s kept out of habit is quiet, and he’s left to prowl the streets idly until it crackles to life
-honestly, he’s about to call it a night
-but then,,,,,,
-his eyes spark with interest as he sees a figure (you) being followed a bit too closely for comfort
-hero mode™ is instantly activated
-he waits in excited silence until the two people walk past his hiding spot and jumps out, whaling on the man following you
-you turn around at the sound of grunting and fighting
-diego’s already got the man pinned to the ground with a knife
-“oh my god” is all you can think of saying
-“no need to worry,” he says, smirking. “i’ve got him now.”
-uhhhhh,,,,
-slight awkward silence
-like do you say thank you?? you didn’t even know anything was out of the ordinary—you were just walking and next thing you know a dude in black leather has someone pinned down???
-the man on the ground begins yelling against mystery man’s gloved hand before you can say anything
-“have something to say, asshole??” diego uncovers his mouth
-“i don’t know them, i swear,” the man pants. “i’m just trying to get home to my wife and kids!!”
-“that’s what a criminal would say,” mystery man sneers
-“i swear!!” the man struggles for a moment. “check my left pocket!!”
-mystery man chooses the wrong left at first
-you may have snorted under your breath
-he looks at the man’s wallet, his face falling as he rifles through it
-“i’m, uh—i am so sorry. you have a lovely evening,” he says, and lets him go
-the man runs off as fast as he can, leaving the two of you standing there awkwardly
-“well that was, uh—interesting,” you laugh, not knowing what else to say
-“yeah, my bad,” mystery man laughs. his eyes are kind and crinkling beneath his domino mask. “i’m diego, by the way.”
-you introduce yourself before asking “so what’s your story? you trying to be batman or something?”
-“nah, i’m way better,” he quips, making you laugh
-“riiiight, as you so clearly demonstrated,” you giggle
-diego’s eyes linger on your smiling face for a split second
-you’re so beautiful??!! send help?? his brain is kinda short-circuiting
-without fully knowing what he’s doing, he takes off his mask
-“can i walk you home? y’know, just in case some actual potential creeps are around?”
-you smile up at him, and goddamn it—his heart clenches in his chest unbidden
-“i’d normally decline, but i think you’ve shown me your heart’s in the right place,” you shrug
-“lead the way.”
-you guys talk about nothing in particular, but you can’t help stealing a glance or two (or ten) at the strange man beside you
-his tight leather getup contrasts with his soft mouth and voice
-he’s got a whole tough-but-sweet look going, and you’d be lying if you said you didn’t find it attractive
-he seems somewhat familiar?? maybe you’ve seen him in a movie or something??
-“nah, nothing like that,” he says when you ask him. “just a group of crime-fighting kids run by the biggest dick on the planet”
-and you’re like “wow okay i drink two glasses of wine instead of one when i wanna spice things up”
-he gives you the sweetest smile when you arrive at your place
-“y’know i would, uh—love to see you again,” he says, almost shyly
-and you’re so caught up in him that you agree almost without thinking
-one thing leads to another, and both of you find yourself falling for the other
-he can tell you anything, and he makes you laugh like no one else
-one night, the two of you are sitting on a swingset on a playground in the middle of the city
-he’s wearing a hawaiian shirt you convinced him to buy the other week
-and you’re smiling as you eat the ice cream he paid for, your hair blowing in the setting sun
-the moment isn’t as graceful as it could be—a few hairs get trapped in your eye, and you work at releasing them while simultaneously trying not to get ice cream in your hair
-but somehow??? it’s perfect
-you’re perfect
-diego’s heart literally stops
-he’s blushing!!!!!! he’s so nervous all of a sudden!!!! but he has to ask you
-“w-w-would you wanna be m-my—“
-fuck.
-fuck.
-of course his stutter makes an appearance at the exact time it shouldn’t
-but you understand (because of course you do) and nod as you take his hand with a beaming smile
-“i’d love to.”
-it’s almost too dark to see anymore, but the two of you don’t care
-you sit on the swings, your head on his (really nice-smelling) shoulder
-“thank you,” he says, breaking the happy silence after a few minutes
-“you’re cute,” is your simple response
-and almost before he knows it, you’re kissing him
-!!!!!!!!
-it’s soft and just slightly off-center due to the settling dusk, and you taste so sweet and smell so you
-he just kinda,,,, forgets everything else
-his eyes are full of awe as you pull away slightly with a giggle and kiss his cheek
-congrats!! mr. vigilante is putty in your hands!!
-he can’t stop smiling as he walks you home
-his head spins as you hug him good night and he’s left outside your door
-all the trauma and bitterness and constant competition of his past??
summary: When Luther visits Diego in the boiler room of the gym, he doesn‘t notice one certain person in his brothers bed - a very naked girl.
pairings: Diego Hargreeves x Reader
warnings: nudity, fluff, diego eating a raw egg, making out

a/n: sorry I had writers block and stress because of university which is still present, but Diegos beauty inspired me :))
MASTERLIST REQUEST RULES
A knife meets wood. A man grunts and curses. The girl in the bed wakes up. She sits up, holding the blanket to her chest. Her eyes are half open. Her (h/c) hair is messy.
“Diego!“, she cries. “I already told you this a thousand times: Stop throwing your damn knives at me!“ Her voice is sore and even though she sounds angry, she isn‘t screaming.
The man in the arm chair stares at the half asleep female because he didn‘t notice her. He was here for over an hour and didn‘t notice her. Maybe because she didn‘t move or because she was fully covered by the blanket.
Diego walks downstairs and takes the knife from his brother. Silence fills the room. (Y/n) swallows and her eyes wander from one brother to the other. She can‘t believe someone could have watched her while she was sleeping - naked.
“It‘s a nice place“, Luther says and with another glance at the female, turns to his brother. Diego starts taking of his knifes, grabs a shirt and walks to his girlfriend who is staring at him with wide sleepy eyes.
“Put that on. You are making him blush“, Diego whispers with a grin on his lips. He pats her head and kisses her forehead.
Because Luther is still facing to the other side, (Y/n) lets the blanket fall and puts on the dark blue shirt. After one last stroke over her soft hair, Diego walks to the makeshift kitchen and eats a raw egg. His girlfriend rolls her eyes.
“You‘ve got a girlfriend?“, number one asks. He looks over his muscular shoulder at the slightly nervous girl. She breaks the eye contact and gets up from the bed. The shirt – actually Diegos shirt – is reaching her knees, so she doesn‘t have to worry about Luther seeing anything only Diego is supposed to see.
“Yeah“, Diego says. “Why are you here? Surely not because of my sweetheart.“ (Y/n) stops next to her boyfriend and leans her head against his chest while he wraps his arm around her shoulders, pressing her closer to himself. The sweet scent of him fills her nostrils, she closes her (e/c) eyes and sighs.
“Why didn‘t you tell me?“, Luther asks and the girl in Diegos arms frowns. Why would Diego be obliged to tell his adoptive brother, who he doesn‘t even like, that he got a girlfriend? “You were fighting the night that dad died.“ That makes more sense. As if to prove his assumption, number one holds up an poster. “I checked with the guys out there. And your….girlfriend will probably tell me the same.“
“Well, I shouldn‘t have to prove my innocence to you or anyone in this family.“ Diegos hand wanders lower, from (Y/n)s shoulder to her back and finally to her ass. Quickly, she turns around and takes his hand in hers before the man can touch her anywhere else.
“Yeah, that‘s right. But I just thought that-“ Luther gets interrupted by Diego who tells him really harshly to go and leave him alone, with his beloved girlfriend.
Luther goes upstairs but stops on the door step. “It was nice meeting you.“
Then he closes the door and immediately, Diegos hands are all over his girls body. (Y/n) giggles, not only because his hands tickle her but because of his weird brother too.
“So that was the famous number one“, (Y/n) states while her boyfriend kisses along her neck. One of his hands wanders under the shirt and caresses her stomach. Slowly, they walk to the bed, Diego pushing his girl forward without taking his lips nor hands off her.
“Stop talking about my brother while I‘m trying to make out with you“, he says and turns (Y/n) around, finally kissing her lips. But unfortunately, the female turns her head aside.
“You should lock the door when leaving, Diego. I was sleeping naked next to your brother. He could have seen something. He could have seen everything.“ Diego laughs. (Y/n) looks at him angry although his hands are still caressing her skin.
“Don‘t worry, sweetheart. If he had seen anything, I would have happily cutout his eyes. No one sees my girlfriend naked besides me.“ And while the last sentence comes over his lips, he grabs the hem of the dark blue short and removes it from (Y/n)s gorgeous body. Diego grins like an idiot.
They both fall on the bed, kissing each other where their lips can reach.
Requested by @infinitelyforgotten who asked for: fluffy Diego where the reader dropped into 1963 with him. When he gets admitted to the psych-hospital the reader visits him everyday and promises to get him out (but even with her powers she can’t think of a way to spring him out-until Five shows up). Diego is so glad to be out to stop JFK’s assassination, but mostly so he can hug & kiss the reader again. Maybe when they (Five, Reader, Diego, and Lila) head to find Reginald, Diego dances with the reader and they get caught up in each other for a while before remembering their task.

A/N: I am so sorry this took so long!
"Here to see Diego Hargreeves?"
You shot to your feet. "Here."
The orderly raised an eyebrow at you and said, "You're in here everyday, doll. Must be one hell of a guy."
You smiled, "He is."
He opened the door to reveal Diego sitting at a table, hair unruly and hanging over his eyes, wearing a white uniform.
"Y/n," he looked up and grinned at you. You sat down across from him.
"How are you?"
He shrugged. "No different from yesterday." He leaned in, "You got any new ideas for an escape plan?"
You shook your head sadly. "No. Unfortunately, air manipulation is kinda obvious. If they caught us, you'd be locked up even tighter, and they'd probably ship me off to some government facility for experiments." You shuddered.
Diego reached across the table and held your hand. "Hey, I won't let that happen."
You glanced up and stared into his eyes, deep brown pools conveying as much comfort as they could.
"No touching the patients!" The orderly by the door snapped.
Diego retracted his hand slowly, not wanting to stop the only physical contact you'd had in weeks.
You felt a tingle, like electricity, where he touched you.
"Any news on the others?" He asked.
"No, but I'll keep looking. They must be somewhere, right? They can't have just disappeared."
"Unless they're dead."
You gasped, "Diego!"
"What? Y/n, you have to consider all the possibilities."
You thought about crazy, flamboyant Klaus, sweet Vanya, kind Allison, wicked smart Five, Luther's leadership, even of Ben and his crazy book obsession. To imagine them gone seemed unthinkable.
"No. They're not gone, Diego."
"Y/n," he spoke softly. "I'm just trying to protect you. I want you to be prepared for the worst."
You shook your head and frowned. "If they were gone, I'd feel it."
"Y/n-"
"I'd know, Diego."
He didn't look convinced, but let it go.
"So, made any friends yet?" You teased.
He narrowed his eyes at you. "More than you."
You feigned an insulted expression, "How dare you! I am a delight."
He smirked, "Oh, I know you are."
Leaning forwards, you said, "Once you get out, I'm gonna show you just how much of a delight I can be."
His eyes lit up. "Is that a fact?"
"When have I ever lied to you?"
He tilted his head, "Well.."
"Time's up."
The man by the door's harsh voice put an abrupt end to your teasing. This was the worst part, leaving. You stood up solemnly and said, "I'll be back tomorrow, I promise."
Diego gave you a small nod. "Good."
You gave him one last tight smile before turning and leaving.
Diego's head was spinning. Five would be back. He would get out. Save the president. Be with y/n, really with her, not just sitting a couple feet apart.
Everything would be fine. It had to be.
The sound of gunshots brought him back to reality: being chased by three maniacs with Lila.
Once they finally made it outside, he collided with something- or rather, someone.
"Ow!" You cried.
Warm hands gripped your upper arms, "Y/n?"
Diego.
You stared up at him, eyes shining brightly. "Fancy meeting you here."
Diego shook his head with exasperation and surprised you by grabbing your waist and crashing his lips onto yours. You shut your eyes and placed your hands on his chest, melting into the kiss.
"While this is lovely," An accented woman's voice interrupted your kiss, "We are currently being chased by some very scary men with very scary guns, so if we could maybe pick this up later.."
Diego shot her a glare, "Shut up, Lila."
She shrugged.
The doors burst open revealing three white-haired men who did in fact have very scary guns.
"Go," you said, turning to face them. "I go this"
"Y/n-" Diego started, but Lila yanked his arm saying, "Don't be an idiot. If she says she's got this then she's got this."
As they ran, he glanced back to see you raise your arms, causing a gust of wind to divert the bullets' path into a nearby car. He loved watching you use your powers, you were so graceful and your movements so fluid.
You threw the gunmen back, knocking the weapons from their hands and raced over to Diego and Lila, who was trying to jump start a car.
"That was cool," she commented, still focused on the wires in her hands.
"Thanks," you replied, breathing a little heavier than usual.
Diego kissed you. "What would I do without you?"
You pecked his nose, making him blush, "Probably die."
"I've never been to the Mexican consulate," you said, walking beside Diego, Five, and Lila into the stone building.
Diego raised his eyebrows, "Really? Why not?"
You bumped your shoulder into his. "Shut up."
Soft trumpet music was playing in the back round, and looking around the room, couldn't help but feel under-dressed in your simple purple dress.
As if sensing your discomfort, Diego leaned in and said, "Don't worry, you look beautiful." To Five, he said, "I don't see dad anywhere."
"Just keep an eye out for the Majestic Twelve."
You snorted, which earned a sharp look from Five. "Sorry, but it's a ridiculous title."
"That may be," Five said, "But trust me, nothing about them is ridiculous."
"So, what's the plan?" Diego asked, eyes still scanning the room.
"You and y/n stay down here. Lila and I will take the upstairs."
You heard him hiss quietly to Lila, "I want to keep an eye on you."
You frowned. What did that mean?
Diego distracted you by pulling you into the next room. "They're playing our song."
He pulled you close, wrapping one arm tightly around your waist and taking your hand gently in his. You placed your other palm on the back of his neck and felt the tingling again travel through your fingertips. He spun you, getting lost in the music, and ran his hands down your sides sending a shiver up your spine. You whirled around to face him again.
"Someone's got moves."
"One ever knows when dance will mean the difference between life and death,” he did a terrible impression of Reginald making you laugh brightly.
"You're an idiot."
He moved closer, so you were swaying more than dancing, and pressed your foreheads together.
"I love you."
You rubbed your nose gently against his, "I love you, too."
He suddenly dipped you, making you jump. You smirked and took a step back.
"Switch," you deadpanned.
"Wha-"
You grabbed his waist and pulled him to you. "Just follow my lead."
He scoffed, but let you lead him.
Eventually, you reverted back to your initial roles and rested your head against his chest, tucked under his chin.
His fingers brushed a few loose strands of hair off your cheek, leaving a trail of electricity in their wake.
Suddenly, you felt a cold, heavy weight against your back.
"Mind if I cut in?" An unfamiliar voice shattered your peace. It belonged to a tanned, blond man who clearly spent way too much time on his hair.
Diego's gaze hardened and you felt his arm tighten around you, shifting you so the other man's hand dropped back down to his side.
"Yeah, I do. So back off."
The other man gave you a sneer and said, "Now, see, I wasn't really askin'."
When he took a step closer, Diego whipped out a knife faster than you'd ever seen him do before and held it to his throat.
"I said, back off."
The creep's eyes widened and he quickly fled.
Diego watched him go with dark eyes.
"Hey," you whispered, cupping his cheek. "You okay?"
He looked back at you and softened.
Wordlessly, Diego put his knife back in his belt and hugged you tightly.
"No one will every take me away from you, Diego." You reassured him quietly.
"Good." He murmured, his breath dancing lightly across your face.
And even as he rushed off in search of mom, that tingling feeling never left.
A/n: Thanks for reading! Let me know what you think and feel free to send me a request! :)
requested by : anon - Hello! I love your writing, and I was wondering if I could request Diego Hargreeves x reader, where they’ve been dating for a little while, and she insists on meeting his siblings? A little bit of family chaos, and a ton of fluff? Love you!💕💕
a/n : NONNY ur too sweet thank u so much my gosh and thank u for the request <3333 i hope that you enjoy this and thank u again!<3
After months and weeks of convincing your boyfriend, it was finally the night. You were going to have dinner with the Umbrella Academy, your boyfriend’s siblings. You didn’t know much about them, only what you had known whilst growing up. Diego didn’t really speak that much of them. He seemed to get tense whenever you had mentioned meeting his family, and forever refused. That was until you had told him that if he wanted to get serious, you were going to have to meet his family. Just like he was going to have to meet yours, but that could wait.
You couldn’t contain your excitement. You had longed to meet Diego’s family and now you finally were. The two of you walked up to the doors of the Academy, resting your hand on the handle. Diego took a deep breath, as if preparing himself and you left go, turning to him, holding his hands in yours.
“Listen. Whatever happens, I’ll still love you. You don’t have to worry about losing me, I’m right here. I’ll always be right here.” You smiled, pressing a feather light kiss to the corner of his mouth before hauling open the door. He returned the smile before anxiously following you inside.
Immediately, a woman with caramel curls came bounding up to you. You grinned at her.
“Hi! I’m Allison. It’s so good to finally meet you!” She pulled you into a hug and you smiled, hugging her back.
“It’s good to meet you too! I’m Y/N.”
“Please, come in.” You followed her through to the kitchen, where the food was being prepared. There were three other siblings in the kitchen. “This is Vanya, Luther and Five.” Another woman, she seemed very timid. A very tall, brawny man, who looked rather uncomfortable and a child, drinking coffee.
“Everyone, this is Y/N.” The timid woman gave you a little wave, paired with a quiet ‘hello’ and you smiled at her. The big man gave you an awkward nod and the child cleared his throat, not interacting with you in the slightest.
“Quite a warm welcome.” You laughed, seemingly making the two adults chuckle at the very least.
Not much was said before dinner arrived on the table. You took the opportunity to try to get to know everyone better, and with Allison’s help, you managed to get the others talking in no time. On the table, there was a spare meal steaming in front of one of the seats and you frowned, pointing to it with your knife while you swallowed the food in your mouth.
“Who is that for?” You asked, turning your head to Diego.
“Oh, just Klaus.”
“Klaus?”
“My stoner brother.” Diego chuckled and you smiled, continuing to eat your food until another’s presence was announced, rather obnoxiously.
“Ooh, we have a guest!” Klaus sang, clapping his hands, but stopped when you turned around to face him. “Hey, Y/N. Are you here for me?” He winked, swinging his hips around in a sexual manner and you cleared your throat.
“No, I’m—I’m here with your brother.” You replied awkwardly, avoiding the gazes of those of the rest of the family that surrounded you.
“Babe, what is he talking about?” Diego asked you and you shrugged, scratching the back of your neck, shifting uncomfortably in your seat.
“Babe? Oh.” A sudden look of terror slapped Klaus across the face. “Oh.”
The remainder of the evening continued quite uncomfortably, so much so that Diego had took it upon himself to pull you to the side, to ask if you were alright.
“Me? Oh, I’m fine. Why do you ask?”
“You’re acting weird. Did something happen?”
“Nope, not at all.” You convinced, but Diego just frowned disappointedly. “Wait.”
“There is something.” You sighed, pinched the bridge of your nose. “I don’t exactly know how to say this. And you have to promise not to hate me when I do.” Diego’s brows drew together in confusion and you took a deep breath, swallowing thickly, cheeks turning pink.
“Me and your brother have hooked up a couple of times in the past.”
Diego blinked. “What?”
“Please don’t make me say it again.”
It was just in that moment where Klaus waltzed over with a bottle in his hand, slurring his words, putting his arm around Diego’s shoulder.
“It’s true!”
“But I thought—”
“I’m pansexual. And we were both out of our faces.”
“Oh.” Diego said. He brows furrowed further, his eyes widening. “Wait, you guys had sex?”
“No! God, no. No offence.” You half-apologized and Diego seemed to be able to breathe again.
“None taken.”
Your heart ached for the rest of the evening. You and Diego made your way home and you immediately made for the bedroom, burying yourself under the covers, on the furthest end of the bed. It would surprise you if Diego even came to bed with you tonight. You could hear him in the shower, your heart dropping when the water turned off. A sigh escaped your lips after a while, and you closed your eyes.
Suddenly, a pair of large, warm arms wrapped around your tummy, pulling your back against a hot, bare chest.
“I thought—”
“Y/N, I still love you. Just because you kissed my brother a couple of times when you were off your face doesn’t mean I don’t love you anymore. Now, come here.” His low voice rumbled in his chest and your chest filled with nothing but pure love for the man that held you. You twisted around, so your chests were bare against each other and his lips gently found yours.
“I love you.” A gentle kiss was pressed to your forehead and you smiled, closing your eyes, hugging against your beloved boyfriend for warmth in the night.
Diego x reader (the whole family is present at the beginning but as time goes on becomes more Diego-centric)
Summary: You have a summer house that is far away from any big cities, you’ve inherited it from your great-great-parents and you want to prove to your friends that you cannot possibly make an income out of it. So you submit the house at booking dot com for the lowest price possible. Your plan was working for years and you’ve been happy and content just by growing your own food and participating in the village’s community, completely forgetting about the offer you presented on booking. Until one day, seven siblings arrive at your place, saying they reserved themselves the whole house for the eternity of summer.
Warnings: gender-neutral reader, swear words (? but just a couple, mainly from Five)
Wordcount: 3.7k
A/N: settling is post s2, so everyone looks accordingly. umbrella academy gets back into the timeline where no umbrella nor the sparrow academy exists, yet the world is still ending. mostly written out of nostalgia for my own summer house that my family sold years ago and i will never come back there, so i want it to live on at least somewhere
Summers were always hot in this little village that you lived in, especially with the climate change looming over humanity’s ignorant heads.
So you were actually relieved that you finally persuaded a local technician to help you fix the fridge that stopped freezing its insides for good two weeks already.
You just handed her the cash and waved her goodbye, also giving the lady a basket with apples and peaches that grew in your garden. You don’t have enough people eating your fruits and most of it goes into jams anyways.
You waited a little until her car disappeared into the horizon of the bumpy road near your house, seeing as it even got blurry in the end, as the air was literally melting the reality in front of your eyes.
With a swift movement you adjusted a cap on your head, went out of the creaky gate - which green color was peeling off into the original black metal that it was made with - and closed it behind yourself with a happy hum.
It was a twenty minutes walk to the nearest convenience store and it gave you just enough time to ponder about the recent weird thing that happened to you.
About three days ago you just got a random payment come to your bank account.
15 Euros. That was it.
No note, no name.
You decided to let it be, even though it did stir your mind in various ways.
Normally, when something like this happens, the bank realises the mistake in the recipient and takes the money back within 24 hours.
Either the person who sent it didn’t care that it went to the wrong place or bank decided to be generous with you.
Whatever the reason was, those 15 Euros could be used now to buy yourself a little more sweets than you usually do.
You never had to complain about how little money you actually have from living here and being more or less self-sufficient, but some random extra cash will make anyone smile in this capitalistic hell that you tried so hard to escape from.
.
.
After you came home you started sorting out groceries that you’ve bought, putting them into the right places.
Upon finishing you just plopped yourself on the bench near the big abandoned table in the room, looking around.
This house used to be alive. With a lot of your family members running around, making noise, sometimes fighting, but always generally just enjoying the good time at this place.
At the end of the extended room was a window, showing you the rest of the garden that you lovingly cared for every single day.
Under the window was a spacious kitchen counter, with a fridge and shelves for ingredients next to it. Then there was the entrance to one of the unused bedrooms with one bed pushed against the wall, which in turn was covered by a red hanging carpet. On a wall, yes.
You stopped tracing the room around with your eyes as you heard some rummaging coming from the outside.
After easily springing to your feet you saw black dots in front of you and your head was spinning. Damn you, iron deficiency!
A few seconds passed and you were collected again, rushing out towards the gates to the property.
You stopped in your tracks as you saw five people literally barging through your piece of land with suitcases and bags, bickering with each other.
Oh, nope. They were six, actually. A very tiny figure closed the gate after all of them made it in and started clumsily going forward on a tiny tartan road that lead all the way to the summer house.
“Klaus, stop fucking pushing around and help me with the bags, maybe?” said a man with longer curly hair and a goatee, clearly agitated at another person, who wasn’t holding anything except some bottle in their hand.
“Oh cut it, you two! We’re almost in the house, come on,” said a woman with straight black hair in the flowery dress and then she noticed that someone blocks their way.
Her eyes landed on you.
“Um... hello?” she said with an awkward smile, attempting a wave in your direction and continued, “are you the owner? We booked your house until the rest of the summer like.. a few days ago.”
Your eyes widened and your mouth hung open in the “o” shape, trying to grasp the reality.
So.... someone really booked your summer house after several years of no traction from booking and you had no clue.
That’s what the payment was for!
But..
“Oh,” you said, not knowing how to proceed about the situation, “well, you see.. um... I have nowhere to stay? This is my only home,” you started timidly, rubbing your hands together.
“Oh,” the woman seemed surprised and confused but quickly collected herself, “well, if you have enough beds to keep us all in then it’s no problem, I guess?”
“Yeah? Alright, great!” You smiled at the whole “squad” and looked at them all.
“Uhm.. my name is y/n! Welcome to my summer house, I guess,” you put your hands into the back pockets and shook your head a little into the direction of the house.
“Allison, nice to meet you,” the woman you talked to said, smiling invitingly.
“Diego,” almost spat the guy with the goatee.
“Klaus, darling,” said the person with the bottle in their hand, widening his arms in an invisible hug.
“Luther,” mumbled a big man in the back of them all.. he looked like he’s been through something.
Actually, they all do.
“Vanya,” chirped a girl behind the big- Luther, the corners of her lips lifting ever so lightly.
“Five,” said a child in the front, looking unusually angry, suddenly shortening the distance between the two of you, “as long as you’re out of our business you’re good to stay,” he literally sneered at you, pushing past you and going inside.
That left you kinda shook, but then Allison just apologised for “their brother”, so you decided to ask another question:
“So you’re all a family?”
“Yes, we’re all siblings. Adopted,” she said, actually following you inside, not as the little guy before who let himself in without even knowing the place.
“I think my place is not the best for so many people to sleep at though..” you said quietly, biting your lip.
“That’s why it was so cheap..” Luther wondered, looking around.
You had to calm yourself so you didn’t snap at your guest. You didn’t even know anyone would ever book your house, damn! What were you supposed to do?
In the end you spent some time showing them the rooms, starting with the first one that contained an old-fashioned sink and the water tank near it, which you needed to manually fill up with water, and the drain led to the bucket under it.
Very simple.
In the back of the room there was a dining table, on one side surrounded by the bench and the other with some mismatching chairs.
From this space you proceeded into the extended “hallway” that you stared at before your peace and quiet was ruined.
There was also an ancient literal furnace, on top of which you could actually lay on, you know, as in all the fairytales.
After that, there was another room entrance that contained two beds on each side (one of them pushed under the window), similar to the other room and a coffee table in the middle of the area.
When you all went back to the first place, there was a wooden staircase that led to the second floor.
There were two rooms. One had a king sized bed in the middle of the space, with a closet and various tables around the whole area.
The other one had a working table and a bed in the corner.
“And that is the end of the tour!” you proclaimed, as everyone got seated by the big table in the extended room, while you were making everyone tea and preparing some snacks.
“Great, I sleep on the furnace!” Klaus exclaimed, putting his hands in the air animatedly.
“I guess we can fit all of us in here, actually,” Allison was clearly thinking aloud, counting the members of the family and available sleeping places.
“You’re gonna take one of the beds, right?” she said, pointing at you.
“Uh.. yes! Upstairs, I think. The one with the small bed and a table,” you smiled at her and she nodded.
“Then I’ll be sleeping with Vanya in the king-sized bed and you guys can fight for who’s going to end up sharing the room,” Allison concluded, clearly enjoying herself.
“Funny of you to think I’ll have enough time to sleep, in our situation,” said Five, suddenly coming out from the doorframe into the room.
You didn’t even mention that he wasn’t there when you were explaining the plan of the house.
“What situation? There should always be time to sleep,” you chipped in, carefully smiling at the boy.
“Stay the fuck out of our business, I said,” he gritted through his teeth at you, which left you blinking in surprise as he went away again, out of sight.
“How... old is he again?” you asked with the confusion that a kid would be so rude to a stranger like this.
All of them kind of nervously laughed or mumbled something that you couldn’t understand.
“It’s complicated,” said Vanya, smiling at you reassuringly.
How the fuck an age of your own brother is complicated?..
You heard the fancy-looking woman - Allison - sigh heavily and turn to you, shrugging.
“It’s just.. when our parents adopted him, he freshly got into the orphanage so he didn’t even have any documents about his birthday, blood type or anything. Apparently, he was really abused by his biological parents. Or whoever else, we don’t even know.”
“Oh.. I’m sorry,” you apologised quickly, biting your lip. Didn’t expect to poke into any painful subjects.
“It’s okay, really, we’ve learned how to take proper care of him,” Allison said, putting her hand on your back with a smile.
When you excused yourself to continue with gardening and went outside, Allison just shook her head.
“Who says ‘it’s complicated’ when someone asks you about their sibling’s age, Vanya?” said Allison in disbelief.
“I’m sorry, I thought it would settle the matter..” she muttered, playing with her fingers anxiously.
“It’s okay..” she smiled at her sister and then looked around the whole table, “look we’re here for the whole summer, so I think it would be better if we somehow told the owner at least partially about our powers so we’re not hiding all the time. We came here to have a safe space where we could train after all, am I right?” she looked expectantly at Luther who immediately started nodding along, agreeing.
“Or maybe,” started saying Klaus, already getting up from his seat and trying to crawl onto the furnace, skinny legs already dangling in the air, “we can just tell them we’re the umbrella academy, don’t you think?” he concluded, facing a wall with his face.
“But we checked that the umbrella academy doesn’t exist in this universe.. nor any other replacement of us,” reminded her siblings Vanya, fingers still intertwined on the table, firmly put together.
“I’m sure we’ll tell them one way or another,” said Diego, getting up just like his brother, making his way a bit further though, his objective clearly being the fridge.
He opened it and smirked at the beer present there, taking one can with him. His eyes then wondered to the window at the end of the room and he stepped closer, inspecting what is outside.
Apparently it was still their new home’s property, as he saw y/n working in the garden, repotting some plants under the tree.
His gaze stayed on them as he thought about various topics in his head, but then he decided to go out of the house, jumping down the wooden stairs leading to the tartan road, framing the whole garden.
You heard steps behind you, turning your head away from the the plants, only to meet a tall man in front of you, with a can in his hand.
“Hey, uhm..” he nervously put his hand on his neck, scratching it, “I just wanted to ask if it’s cool if I take some beer from the fridge?” he lifted the other hand with the mentioned item, giving it a little shake.
“It’s cool,” you replied, smiling softly at him, and then getting back to work, grabbing the plant by the root, moving it to another hole in the ground.
“Okay..” he retorted, biting his lower lip and scanned the area with his dark eyes.
There was an abandoned greenhouse with broken walls, greenery growing all around it, just next to the fence of the property. To its left was a wooden toilet booth with a typical round-shaped hole in the higher part of the door.
“I’m really sorry, by the way,” you started talking again, now finally done with your objective of the day, now plopping yourself next to Diego on the bench that he was chilling at, the surface creaking from the added weight, “I really thought nobody would *ever* rent this place,” you shrugged with a smile, now looking in front of yourself, closing your eyes and letting sunshine illuminate your face.
“Well.. uh.. then why did you put up on that website anyways?” he asked, clear confusion in his voice.
You sighed, shifting your body a little, getting into more comfortable sitting position, “It was a bet I made with my friends back in the day. A few years ago they told me I could actually rent this place and get income from it, not having to work a day in my life! Yet i told them that it’s not possible, and I wanted to prove that I was right by putting the advertisement,” you finished, finally opening your eyes, tilting your head at your new acquaintance.
You caught him staring at you, so he quickly turned away, now getting quite a violent sip out of the beer can.
“You should’ve put some timing on that bet then.. Let’s say, if it doesn’t get traction after two years you’ll finally delete the posting,” he said, after gulping some liquid.
That made you laugh and you couldn’t look away from him. His features were so.. delicate.
“Yeah, you’re actually right!” you admitted, slapping your thighs in excitement.
“Diego, my precious brother!” you two suddenly heard from the entrance to the house.
You lifted your eyes and saw a slender confide getting closer to you both, the man walking barefoot.
“Five said we’re all needed for a ‘family meeting’,” the guy literally put an air quotes with his free hand that wasn’t holding a glass, saying it in the mockingly serious tone, “so you better come with me and stop bothering this lovely person, alright?” he then proceeded sweetly, extending a hand towards Diego with a wide smile.
“God.. alright,” he answered and to your surprise took his hand, now brothers going away into the house, Diego briefly looking back at you, “Let’s talk later.”
You just nodded, finding yourself still smiling long before they were gone.
What is this funny feeling in the pit of your stomach?..
And why is one of their family members called by a number instead of a name?!
.
.
It was only the second day of your coexistence with the Hargreeves but it was already a wild ride.
Normally your morning looked like this;
You would wake up at a reasonable hour, maybe like.. 9am. You would go down the stairs from your room and make yourself some breakfast. While eating you’d either read a book or just listen to some music from your phone.
Then you’d do daily tasks, so taking care of the garden or some house maintenance, or both.
Then you’d do everything special that needs to be done only once in a while: a meeting with a friend, grocery shopping, attending a meeting with your neighbours where you decide on further upgrades of the village.
Then you’d draw some commissions, if there were any and after all of this you’d have late lunch that normally turned into dinner, concluding your day with doing your hobbies or rarely taking out your laptop and browsing the internet.
“Rise and shiiine!” you heard somewhere from downstairs, for some reason that person was also ringing a bell, making you immediately sit up in your bed.
You turned your head towards the mirror that hung across your sleeping space on the wall and you could see your hair standing up in different directions, cowlick upon cowlick.
You also felt tired, kind of not used to that feeling and shifted your half-closed eyes to the alarm clock near you.
It was... a bit past 7am. Who are those people to wake up that early?!
You lazily got up from the bed, yawning and stretching your arms up, feeling a few cracks here and there.
“Good morning!” first half of the sentence was muffled by the closed door to your room, but that quickly changed as it burst open, Klaus marching right in, his voice now uncomfortably loud for your sleepy ears, “I thought it would be nice to have breakfast all together and make you feel a part of the family, wouldn’t it?” he said with a genuine smile, looking at you.
You were sitting on your bed in pyjamas, hair all over the place, most unamused expression on the face, eyes half opened.
“Not a morning person?” he mused, tilting his head at you, “well, feel free to join or sleep more, I wouldn’t judge,” he continued and you saw in literal slow motion as he lifted his hand with a bell in hand, shaking it hard as he marched out of your room just in the same manner as he came in just seconds ago.
“BREAKFAST!!” he yelled with at least two octaves lower at his siblings, still ringing the bell that now was resonating in your brain in a highest pitch possible, making your head hurt.
Great morning.
But despite the general morning grumpiness you did find it endearing that Klaus decided to include you in their activities, making you feel less alone and - quite funnily - welcomed in your own house.
You slowly went down the stairs, hearing the lower floor full of different voices and it made your heart clench. You immediately thought of your family that made it feel alive like this in the past and a warm smile appeared on your face, as the Hargreeves huddled up around the smaller table in the room you descended from the stairs into, all making your appearance feel natural.
“Good morning,” you passed Luther that nodded in your direction alongside the phrase, as you went into the bigger room, seeing Allison cooking by the stove, window open.
“Oh hey, you’re up,” she said with a smile, “can you pass me some milk?” she asked, extending her hand into the air, already expecting said item.
“Sure!!” you hurriedly opened the fridge, giving her the thing she requested and she continued cooking.
You slowly looked around, seeing a blanket and some different things like cigarette boxes and teddy bears on top of the furnace, which made you realise that someone from the family has clearly claimed it to be their place for sleeping and you found it adorable.
“You can go sit with the others, I’ll bring it all in when it’s ready, Allison said, adjusting her black hair so it didn’t get in the way of preparing food.
“Oh.. okay!” you chirped, with a smile going back to the first room, and finding an empty seat between Diego and Klaus.
You almost sat already when Klaus sprang to his feet and took you by the shoulders, making you freeze on the spot, eyes wide.
“Klaus?” you asked, confused, “is that seat taken?”
“By Allison,” Diego quickly responded before his brother had any chance to and then the skinny man sat back on his chair, nodding with an awkward smile on his face.
“Yes, exactly. Sorry y/n,” he sighed and shrugged, clearly playing along Diego’s words, but you just let it go.
Instead you sat next to Luther, whom already opened his mouth but Vanya looked at him with a forced smile, raising a brow. At that, the big guy closed his mouth again, without making a sound.
Something.. is weird here. You shifted a bit in your seat, biting your lower lip.
The kid wasn’t here at all, you just noticed.
Then finally Allison came with the food and your anxiety lessened, as everyone started cheering for wonderful pancakes that she made.
She already wanted to sit on the seat that the guys told you was reserved for her, when suddenly Klaus did the same to her as he did to you.
“Klaus,” Diego hissed in a low voice.
Allison just looked at her brother, expression just as confused as yours was.
“What?” Allison deadpanned, putting a hand to her hip.
There was a brief second of silence until Klaus just burst into an emotional speech.
“Look, I know we’re all pretending that we’re normal in front of y/n but you all know that Ben always sits next to me and he’s sitting here right now, yet you all wanna make it seem like he doesn’t exist? I’m sorry that he’s a ghost, I’m sure he didn’t want to die either!” then after a moment he added, “Right, brother dear?” looking at an empty space near him.
Your brain clearly wasn’t catching up to what was just being said.
Pretending to be normal?..
“Great. Just fucking great, Klaus. I bet Ben would move, understanding the situation!” Allison waved her hands at him and the chair next to him with an annoyed voice.
“We just blew our cover, guys,” said Diego with pursed lips, looking absentmindedly at the table filled with food.
Soon enough they all started arguing and only when there was a sudden blue light in the room, and the kid appeared literally out of the thin air in front of your eyes, everyone fell silent, looking at him.
“Guys, I just did a search around the neighbourhood and—“ his blue eyes met with yours, full of shock and denial of what you just saw, “shit.”
He clicked his tongue and frowned and that was positively the last thing you remember before losing consciousness, everything around you turning black.
Too much of supernatural for one morning, that’s for sure.
summary: diego has been dating the person who teaches karate down the street for a while. after meeting the family at reginald’s funeral, they end up helping to stop the end of the world... twice.
trigger warnings: cursing, unedited
word count: 2.3k
a/n: i’m so sorry to anon that this took so long to come out, i’ve been in and out of writing and i was busy so it was sitting in my drafts, half finished for a while lmao. but here it is! i hope it was worth the wait. i wasn’t able to fit everything that you wanted in, but i got the basics lol.
you take slow steps around the room, watching as your most advanced students spar, taking hits from their opponents that land on the padded gear they wore with loud thuds. this was something you watched every day, but these students were your favorite because they were never afraid to give or take a packed punch.
there’s a tap at the window that forms the wall to your left, but you ignore it, assuming it to be a bird or something that hit the glass. when it returns, this time much more insistent on getting someone’s attention, you turn your head to look and you see diego standing outside of the dojo. sighing softly, you look towards your assistant, “i have to attend to something, take over for a few.”
as the slightly younger man nods, you exit the room and make your way out of the building after slipping your shoes on, rounding to where your boyfriend waits. “i hope this is important.” you tell him with a small grin, “i don’t leave my students for just anything, you know.” he doesn’t smile or anything, his face set into hard stone, and your eyebrows furrow. “is everything okay?”
“my dad died.” he tells you simply, and your lips part in surprise, stepping towards him, ready to comfort him, but he shakes his head. “i don’t care about him. it’s the funeral that i care about. i’m only going to see pogo and grace, but my family will be there and i don’t know if i can tolerate them alone.”
you glance through the window at your students, “are you saying what i think you’re saying?”
he nods, “if what you’re thinking is that i want you to come with me, then yes, i am.”
you purse your lips, taking a deep breath as you think it over for a moment. “when?” you question, raising an eyebrow in his direction.
“uh... now?”
you’re too surprised to think for a moment, just gaping at him at the suddenness of it all. after a few seconds, you regain yourself, shaking your head, “right now? you’re serious?”
diego gives another slow nod, looking at you like a lost puppy. you sigh heavily, looking away from him into the dojo, before running your fingers through your hair. “alright.” he smiles at that, and you hold a finger up, “let me send out a few emails. i can’t just dip out without an explanation.”
-
when you met his family, they loved you, much to his annoyance. that week was a crazy one, and you ended up having to help save the world- which didn’t work at all.
and then you landed in dallas, texas, in the year 1963, only a few weeks after diego did. when you found the newspaper that told you where you were, it also gave you some very interesting information on what your boyfriend had been up to when he landed before you.
that’s how you ended up at the mental institution that he was being held, watching as he was escorted into the small visiting room. the smile on his face when he saw you was contagious, though you tried to hold yours back.
“hargreeves, what the hell did you do?” you question with a chuckle as the guards moved to stand nearby, ready to step in if anything happened. too bad they wouldn’t be able to stop what you had planned. there were only two of them. really, a mistake on their part.
taking your hands as he sat down, the man leaned forward onto the table. his hair had grown out a lot since he had gotten here, and you would be lying if you said you didn’t think that he looked good. “i missed you.” he doesn’t answer your question, and you roll your eyes, raising your eyebrow to get him to tell you. “okay, i’m going to save the president. and you’re going to help.”
your lips part for a second, and when you have fully processed what he said, you let out a bewildered laugh. “no,” you tell him, “no i’m not. you’re not going to do that.”
his eyebrows furrow in confusion and you can tell that he had gone a little crazy in his time here. “why not?”
shaking your head, you run your thumb over his knuckles. “because, that’s just a stupid idea.” you grin as you watch him deflate slightly, “do you have any idea how that would change the timeline? it’s going to change everything, and if five ever finds us, he’ll kill you for it.”
when he doesn’t say anything, almost seeming like a toddler with how he looked at you, you sigh, leaning forward slightly. “but i’ll tell you what we are doing,” you start, the volume of your voice dropping, “we’re getting you out of here.”
the smile comes back, and he leans towards you, sneaking in a quick kiss. “i’ll get the one at the door.” he whispers, and you nod, already bracing yourself for the fight ahead of you. “on three.”
“one... two... three!” with the raise in your voice, you jump up from where you sit, and so does diego, jumping the guard at the door before he can even realize what’s going on.
you managed to barrel over the table and get your guard, landing a kick right in his chest that knocks him back into the wall behind him. the impact doesn’t allow him to recover in enough time to fight back, and with a punch to the face (one that had definitely broken his nose), he was out like a light, slumping to the ground.
turning, you see that diego had no trouble getting the other guy, and just as you were about to leave the room, you’re surprised by the sudden appearance of a red light that flashes in time with the alarm ringing through the place.
“let’s get the hell out of here before we’re both stuck in here.” you grab his arm, beginning to run down the hall towards what you hope is an exit, and not a dead end that lead to guard detaining you.
as you run, diego keeps a good hold on your hand. “you know,” he breathes, looking behind the two of you to be sure nobody was following, “it’s hot when you fight like that.”
you can’t help but laugh, but shake your head. “we don’t have time for your flirting, diego.” you tell him, taking a sharp turn down another hall. you suddenly stop when you come face to face with another woman, diego nearly bumping into your back but stopping just in time.
“i knew you were crazy enough to plot an escape.” the woman chuckles, and you’re surprised that she knows him.
you look to him in silent question, and he lets out a breath. “no time. we’re still in a pit of guards, if you’ve forgotten.” he’s already beginning to move forward, “let’s go!”
with his shout, you’re running again, the woman right beside you. you’re not sure who she is, but introductions can be made later, when you’re not in danger of being locked up.
-
you had really thought that she was an okay person. diego seemed to like her enough to keep her around, and she seemed harmless (other than her knowledge in combat).
yet there she was, standing in the middle of the empty field ahead of you, the handler at her side. five and diego had gone out to meet them and see what they wanted while you, klaus, allison, and luther stood near the barn in the snow, squinting to try and get a peek at what was happening.
you didn’t get much time to wonder, however, because with blue flashes- literally everywhere- people started popping up all around them, equipped with briefcases and a gun.
“oh, my god.” you hear luther breathe out from next to you, the four of you looking out as they continue to pop up. they filled the field behind lila and the handler, and you began to realize what this was.
“this can’t be good.” you mumble, your heart beginning to race.
sure, you could fight. you had trained in karate since you were seven, but that didn’t seem to be of much importance right now, when they were all pointing guns at you and you had nothing to protect yourself with.
in the distance, you see the woman pulling something out of the pocket of her jacket as the two boys begin to turn and run, causing the rest of you to do the same.
the next thing you know, you can hear the pounding of hundreds of feet against the frosted ground, too caught up in trying to save your ass to look back and see everything. you just hoped that diego was okay.
then, the gun shots begin. all around you, bullets crashed into the ground as you ran for cover, and just as you were about to dive behind carts of hay with the other three, you feel the sharp stinging pain in your leg. you fall to the ground just behind the hay, and when you look down to see what the pain was, the snow is stained with your blood.
breath becoming shallow, your eyes widen at the sight. “fuck,” you breathe shakily, hands waving wildly in the air as you try to think of what to do, “what the fuck.”
you’re too busy worrying about the blood pouring out of your thigh to see what everyone else sees- vanya floating in the air, a white glow surrounding her- until the fire raining down on you ceases.
you look up from the red snow, shifting your body to look past the side of the cart while the others stood to look, seeing lila beginning to do the same as vanya had done.
allison, klaus, and luther begin to run- apparently not taking notice of your situation- just as the force from the power begins to move over the field, and you try to push away from it before it can get to you, but you’re too late. the cart is knocked over by the force, trapping you under it as you hit your head against the ground, effectively being knocked out.
-
“where’s y/n?” diego questions the moment he’s on his feet, looking around at all of his siblings who had helped him get out from under the tractor that had trapped his leg.
the three that had been with you look to each other, silently asking if you had been with them, and when nobody seems to say anything about it, klaus looks to the cart that they had left you at. “last time i saw her...” he says, pointing towards where you were trapped.
the man’s eyebrows furrow as he immediately turns on his heel to run to the cart, seeing the blood when he gets to it and quickly dropping to the ground beside your unconscious body. everyone else had followed and when they saw the sight, luther jumped to lift the hay that trapped you as diego pulled you out.
“god, no!” he pants, looking to your leg that had slowed down a bit in it’s bleeding, his eyes widening as he quickly checks for your pulse. he lets out a relieved sigh when you’re alive, looking to the others. “i’ll take care of her,” he tells them with a nod, “go find five, get rid of lila.”
they all split away from the two of you with the command, going to defeat the enemy that is the crazy lady you had met at the asylum.
-
she had been dealt with. mostly. the handler was dead and lila had disappeared with the suitcase she arrived with, off to who knows where to do who knows what.
you shoot up from the ground when you wake up, groaning from the pain the shot up your leg. “ah, shit!”
diego quickly looks up when he hears you, “oh, thank god you’re up.” he lets out a huff of breath, shaking his head. “how did this happen?” he questions, motioning to your thigh, where a piece of your shirt had been wrapped around the wound, already bleeding through.
“well, i got shot.” you state the obvious, picking at the shirt and gritting your teeth as you feel the pain.
he breathes in sharply, “okay, you’ll be okay.” he nods, and you think he may be telling that to himself rather than you. “we took care of lila and the handler-”
“i really thought she would be an alright person,” you shake your head as you prepare yourself to stand up, but diego quickly stops you.
“i don’t think that’s a good idea.” he warns, his hand held up to keep you from doing it, “i’ll just... carry you.”
you grin at the proposition. “a real knight in shining armor.” you chuckle, “i guess i’ll allow it.”
“yeah, yeah.” he smiles as he loops his arm under your knees, careful to not move your thigh too much to avoid pain, before putting the other on your back. you put an arm around his shoulder, and he lifts you slowly, trying his hardest not to hurt you.
you squeeze your eyes shut at the pain that courses through your leg, but you try to tough it out. “did five find a way to get back home?” you question, opening your eyes to look up at him.
“yeah,” he tells you, “we had an array of briefcases to choose from.” he chuckles, bringing you around the front of the house. “grace will be able to fix you up.”
“oh, thank god.” you giggle, “i thought i’d need you to carry me around everywhere.” you joke, curling a piece of his hair around your finger. “i wouldn’t mind it, though.”
