Nox: How long has Nuntius been your companion, what abilities does Nuntius have, and does Nuntius have a preferred set of pronouns?
Well to start with Nuntius prefers he/him.
I've known Nuntius ever since I was a filly, in fact he was the first spirit I had befriended!
He wasn't always my messenger though, he had volunteered to do that when Grimm was first training me to be a reaper.
As for his abilities, he is a wisp so it comes with the base set of abilities most ghost spirits have. ie: absorbing energy from heat/electricity as a primary source, movement of objects using thier flames either for utility or offence.
Nuntius himself has trained to use his flames to carry an echo of a point in time in order to use it to relay messages. This echo manifests itself as a projection in his flames, sort of like a spectral hologram.
Mere moments after she silently landed right next to a sleeping Light, Nox cast a muffling spell on herself, just in case she was not quiet enough, and gently lifted their mane off their front leg to find Boom's bracelet; but while it appeared to be little more than an unadorned piece of jewellery, now she looked more closely, Nox vaguely sensed the strange enchantment that had been cast upon it.
Though it was faint, and she only just managed to notice anything even through great focus, she was certain that the magic used was Ancient, akin to spells that she had been taught by both her Mother and her Mentor; but although she did not know whether Boom had created the bracelet himself, or had merely found it somewhere, it mattered not, as the foulness within him could not eavesdrop on them.
With great caution as to not wake up either Light or any of the others of their company, Nox placed her paws on the bracelet, and quietly whispered one of the very first incantations she ever learnt, which briefly caused the bracelet to glow with a pleasant warmth, before it dimmed again; and after she carefully snuck out of their small camp, when she got far enough away, she let out a deep sigh.
Unless one was the creator of the magic enchantment in question, it was far harder to break a spell or curse that had been cast upon an item than merely warding its effects, shielding the wearer from the negatives that could affect them; and while she knew not for how long her own spell would last, nor whether it had actually worked, Nox tried to think of a white lie as Nox flew back to the rock.
Fortunately, since he saw how tired she was when she offered to take over the watch, she could tell Boom that she had merely fallen asleep if she suddenly appeared in his dreams, or close to them, if his mind was akin to that of Discord, and forbidden from entry; and in the brief window of time she wandered in the Realm of Dreams, she could talk to Light, and Shining, and all the others, as well.
Although she was not certain that the Realm of Dreams was as safe and isolated as the Spirit Realm, especially since her Mother and she had led beings out of their own dreams before, she figured that it was one of the safest options to see if her idea had worked; so after she made sure that Nuntius was still resting beneath her wing, Nox closed her eyes, and let herself enter the Realm of Dreams.
The array of colours around her almost made her believe she had entered the Spirit Realm again, had it not been for a couple of doors that stood close to her, all unique in their shape, size, colour, and even the material of which they were made; and as she walked past doors of rock, fire, crystal, and wood, she could easily tell which door would bring her to whose dreams, save for a single door.
Some distance past the end of the row of doors stood a foul emptiness, but as she slowly approached it, Nox could tell that it was trying to push her away, and she figured that it would lead her into the mind of Boom, if she tried hard enough; but when she found her balance, and she peered into the darkness from a distance, she saw nothing but a faint figure standing motionlessly in the distance.
While Nox was not unfamiliar with the sight of faceless beings, having studied for many aeons under Grim, something about the faint and featureless figure almost froze her heart, and she quickly dove aside when it slowly turned towards her; and as she crawled away in fear, and hid behind one of the doors, Nox quietly prayed to forget the chilling image of its unnatural movement and hollowed eyes.
Whatever the terrifying figure was, Nox knew that it was not of any Realm she knew, not Waking, nor Spirit, nor the Realm of Dreams in which she sat, where she felt her heart beat faster than she had ever thought possible; and her only relief was that the foul darkness did not seem to grow past the doorway, but she preferred not to wait, so she quickly opened the door that had been shielding her.
As she leaned against the door, Nox waited for her heart to calm down, when she heard a faint echo:
"...bark bark..."

when malevolent god known for ignoring prayers and their followers suddenly adopts you out of nowhere what do you even do
Revisiting old (old old) ocs! Boy in blue was my first OC ever and his design has changed minimally while dude on the right has gone through a couple of make-overs
I love to show not tell, so I’ll give facts about them but not their lore! Nuntius has his reasons and Messenger has no idea what they are (no one really does, Nuntius doesn’t make anything easy)
Hi yes before I forget let me introduce ya'll to Nuntius! He's indeed an OFF OC. :> Probably my first, but I got scolded a long time ago for making him and I was ultra sensitive at the time because I had just started making characters-but regardless he's back and kicking ! He's a mailman in Zone 1,a creature similar to Dedan! Nuntius shares some very similar features with Dedan, but he's very different from the guardian. He's very soft-hearted and genuinely aware of how messed up the world around him is,but he still lives with it and tries to at least make some things seem better. He also apologizes too often and has a small fear of elsens. (More so the Burnts but he assumes they're all still elsens either way) It's not hard to determine him from a crowd of people,he's quite tall and can't be missed with either a cart of heavy bag of letters to deliver. :>
When the little Wisp beneath her wing gave her a simple and quick spin, Luna quietly let out a deep sigh of relief, reassured that Nuntius would not utter a word to Nox, for which she sweetly thanked him as she laid down to let herself and him rest for a while; but it did not take Nuntius very long before he started to stir awake again, slowly wiggling his way to freedom from underneath her wing.
Fortunately, even though she briefly chuckled and quivered at the tickling feeling of his movement, Luna did not awaken from her sleep, and Nuntius turned around to fly the great distance back to his mistress, but he did not leave; and instead, he gently bumped against her forehead, which brought a warm smile to her face, and told her, even through her sleep, that he would be back with news soon.
Although flying all the way across the Eastern Sea would cost far too much time and energy for even the strongest of beings, it took Nuntius but a fraction of that time to return to Nox by travelling through the Spirit Realm; but he swiftly realised that he had spent close to all of the strength he had left, even after resting with Luna for a while, and he would need far more time to recover now.
For now, however, those worries were yet ahead of him, and while he did feel the need to slow down, he safely made it back to Nox, where he reappeared in front of her in the Waking Realm, both to her immense relief, and surprise, before she warmly embraced him; and she held him in her arms for just a little bit longer than usual, as she had started to fear that something terrible happened to him.
Eventually, after she let go of Nuntius, and had cleaned her face of tears, Nox softly asked him if her Mother had given him anything to pass on, only for him to slowly dance and twirl around to tell her that Luna was all right, as were all the others back in the Empire; and he was safe through the Spirit Realm, but since he had so drastically hastened himself hither, he could barely fly anymore.
As he landed on her paws, Nox noticed that his Flame had grown dimmer, and when he shivered moments later, despite her best efforts to hold in her tears, she quietly sobbed, and asked him to rest for as long as he truly needed; and she promised she would keep an eye on him, if not both, as often as she could spare them, before she helped the little Wisp to his most favourite place under her wing.
But when she did not feel anything, Nox realised that he was so tired, he was even unable to tickle her when he nestled himself in, so she closed her eyes, and focused on her breathing to refocus her energy to the little Wisp; and while she knew not how much it would help him, she would keep giving him some energy until she saw with her own eyes that he was strong enough to fly around unassisted.
Even though she would love to join him and rest, she could not, for not only had she taken the duty upon herself to keep watch over the group for the night, but thanks to Grim's interference, she did not even feel tired; but while she would not mind sleeping until the Sun rose again, the silence of the night allowed her to think about what laid ahead of them yet, and what she had to look out for.
What she worried above all else, though, was a way to reach out to the group to warn them about the danger that Boom and the dark presence within him posed to them, but without either of them finding out what she was telling them; but while she could carefully wake up the others one by one to speak with them, the risk of waking up Boom was too great to attempt this, and she sighed in frustration.
Even Light, the only one of the group who had a direct connection to her through the Amulet she had given them, could only be reached through the Void, which she knew was not unreachable for Boom, as Boom had a way to reach out to them, through the bracelet they wore; but when she looked their way, she wondered whether she could somehow sever the link he had with that bracelet to block his Sight.
After some time of debating with herself, Nox took a deep breath, and quietly flew over to Light…
