This very morning, D and I were able to secure a wonderful plot at a local community garden. This is a picture of the garden area, not our plot, so more on our particular space later. For me, it's been over a year since I've gotten some dirt under my fingernails. While the plot will be the smallest garden I've ever had the pleasure of cultivating, I know there's lots of ways to maximize the space and grow an abundance of vegetables, fruits and herbs - I've done a bit of vertical gardening before, but this will be a new challenge! This particular garden is located in Prospect Heights and was started in 1975. It's completely organic, and no poisons are allowed. We also had the pleasure of seeing new bee hives that were recently installed. Needless to say, I'm looking forward to spending time in this urban sanctuary and posting updates on our little piece of garden.
