History

Born and raised in New York

Raised in foster care, her father was never in the picture and her mother tried to raise her despite not wanting a child but ended up walking away when Raleigh was eight because she just couldn’t do it anymore and she didn’t have the money to raise her

Always tried her best in foster homes, but no one ever wanted to adopt her because they all wanted younger kids and thought she’d be too damaged - got moved around a lot

Actually took it pretty hard and became convinced that she was just unlovable and just accepted that she’d never have a family

At one of her foster homes, and the one she stayed in the longest, she became friends with her neighbour Jack, who ended up her best friend and the only person she’d trust with anything

She did pretty well in school, didn’t really shine in anything particular, but she got decent grades. she knew she couldn’t afford any higher education though and that scholarships were hard to come by, so as soon as she could, Raleigh started doing odd jobs, like helping the old lady down the street, or scooping ice cream at a nearby ice cream parlor over the summer, and every other job she could find.

At seventeen, she met the boy that she was pretty sure she would be with for the rest of her life. He was three years older than her, but he was nice and he told her he loved her and was always there when she needed him, so she was head over heels in love with him and would do anything for him

Jack didn’t like him. Not one bit, and he was very vocal and clear about it, but Raleigh didn’t care and so she didn’t listen

Managed to get some student funding, and combined with all her jobs etc. she was able to afford to go to college where she started on her path to become a social worker - she’d seen first hand how the system worked and failed, and she wanted to help make it easier on other foster kids like her

As soon as she was eighteen and had to leave the foster care system, Raleigh went to live her boyfriend (partially to reduce costs so she wouldn’t have to pay for housing) and that’s when things started going south

It was good for a little while, perfect even, but then little things started happening. just him getting angry when she got home late, accusing her of cheating on him with Jack and naming her all kinds of things. He always apologised though, and things would always get better for a little while.

Then it got worse, a lot worse. The yelling and accusations happend more often and then he started hurting her, especially after he’d had a bit to drink

She blamed herself though and she never told anyone. Even if others would see her marks, she’d just make an excuse and due to her clumsiness, people wouldn’t question her word

Jack was suspicious though and eventually managed to it out of her and then convinced her to leave her boyfriend after a relationship of five years

After the break-up, Raleigh found herself in a bit of a rut and buried herself in her work - the reason behind the break-up isn’t common knowledge though, Jack is the only one who knows the whole story

Got dragged along on a Vegas trip by Jack, where she got dragged around to everything, drank along with everything and that’s how she ended up drunkenly meeting a guy and somehow ended up marrying him that same night - which she doesn’t exactly remember, thinks of it more as a dream, but she still has the ring nonetheless

Personality

Raleigh is an overall optimistic person but does get very stuck in her own head sometimes

She pretends to be a lot happier than she actually is

Finds it easy to stand up for others, it’s just for herself that it’s more difficult

Has some trust issues and commitment issues, she doesn’t open up to people unless she knows for certain that she can trust them which does not happen easily

Always very excited to meet new people though, she’ll be the first one to strike up a conversation

Buries herself in her work and if she gets a call from one of the foster kids, she’ll drop everything immediately and rush towards them

Enjoys photography in the bit of free time she takes advantage of, purely as a hobby though

History

Her mother was only seventeen years old when she fell pregnant with her, the father was an eighteen-year-old high school graduate on his year abroad in Japan and was already gone by the time the pregnancy was discovered

The mother's parents told her she had two choices, either she'd give the child up for adoption or she would be disowned and they would no longer consider her their daughter - she went with the first option and immediately went to an adoption agency

Born in Japan, she was adopted shortly after her birth and taken to the United States. She was given the name Kelsey Quinn.

She grew up in San Francisco with a close-knit family, which included two older brothers - her adoption was never a secret, her parents were always very open about it and considering she was the only Asian kid in an otherwise white family, it was pretty obvious

Got really into everything computers and programming at eight years old and quickly showed to have quite her way with it, even being able to build a computer from scratch

Around twelve she discovered the magical world of hacking, she was very good at it too, but she also already knew the kind of trouble she could get into and so she steered away from it (or at least made sure she couldn't get discovered and never actually took anything)

Despite being a complete computer nerd, Kelsey was pretty popular in high school. She was just kind of friendly with everyone and everyone liked her plenty.

When she was eighteen, one of her brothers died in an 'accident'. Her family was told that he had gotten behind the wheel drunk and that he'd gotten in car accident that way - she didn't believe it for even one second, because she knew her brother knew better than to do that.

So she did what she did best and she hacked her way into some databases and other places she wasn't supposed to find her way into and ended up discovering that the detective on her bother's case was dirty and had been paid off by a gang to cover up the death of her brother, who had fallen victim of mistaken identity due to a mistake of one of the gang members.

Pissed off by the whole thing, Kelsey did what she felt was only right and anonymously sent out the file that she had built up to all the newspapers and online bloggers she could find and it kind of blew up. The detective on the case was fired and sentenced to time in prison, but unfortunately despite the fact that the leaders of the gang were prosecuted, nothing ever happened and they got away with it all.

Of course Kelsey couldn't leave it like that, and so she decided to hit the gang where it hurt them the most - their wallet. She hacked into all of their bank accounts and cleared them out, donating the majority to various charities and putting away some of it for herself and her family- it seemed to her the least of what they deserved.

Unfortunately for her, she was sloppy due to her anger and left behind a trace that pointed the gang in her direction and so a kill order was put on her head. Knowing that she had inadvertently put her family and friends in danger, Kelsey faked her death and ran away.

That's when she became Adeline McKenna. It was pretty easy to create a new identity for herself, what she couldn't do herself, she found the right (albeit shady) people to help her with.

At nineteen she was just keeping her head low, taking money from people who gave her odd little jobs that required her skills and always keeping an eye out in case she was recognized.

Through one of these odd jobs she met Jimmy, impressed with her skills he decided to recruit her to his ragtag team. She was hesitant about it at first, but eventually she realised how much safer she would be in his team and how much more comfortable she'd be and so she said yes.

It wasn't that long after she'd joined the team that Jimmy was arrested - it spooked her for a bit but the second in command was able to convince her to stick around and to this day she still doesn't regret her choice.

As far as the outside world is concerned, she's a website designer. It's a cover story she's created just in case, and to keep it alive she'll occasionally take on a job so she doesn't get find out. All of her time is spent on being the hacker for the team though.

Even though she knows that she covered herself well, she's lowkey still worried that one day the gang that she pissed off might come after her - but even then she knows she has her new family, and knowing what kind of people they are, she's aware that she shouldn't be too worried.

Personality

Once believing about the good in people, Adeline has become far more weary of people's intentions.

She doesn't believe in good or bad, she's seen supposedly good people be bad and so now she's more than happy to just believe in money. It's far easier that way.

Can be the most energetic, upbeat person one moment and a sarcastic lil' shit the next.

Isn't scared to call people out on their shit and doesn't really worry about the consequences.

She's not easy to piss off, but if someone does - fully expect her to get back at them. Whether it'll be something subtle like hacking into their social media accounts and wreaking havoc that way, or something less subtle like punching them in the face - she doesn't let go of a grudge until after she's retaliated.

A disaster in the kitchen. Has like a handful of dishes that she can actually make pretty well, everything else is awful and you’d take a huge risk trying a bite of.

Audrey Shaw grew up in Edgewater, New Jersey. She’s the middle child of 3 girls. Her parents owned a bookstore and she spent her upbringing helping out at the store, which she really enjoyed until she found a passion in dance. From then on, she spent every moment she could at the studio.

It wasn’t a surprise when Audrey decided she wanted to make a career out of it. She got into the best college in New York, The School of American Ballet and ended up graduating as one of their top students.

After that, she began teaching her own classes at a dance studio in the city, which she still does to this day. Around 11 years ago, she got the opportunity to be a ballet instructor at Juilliard. It was her dream job and she absolutely loves it. She loves her students and is so happy she gets to do what she adores.

When she was around 20, she met the man of her dreams. Gabe Melendez. He was a military guy and she was a prim and proper ballet dancer. They fell in love quickly and despite the fact he was away for a while as a medic, they still worked it out. When he returned, they decided to have a baby together. A little girl, Freya, who they both adore and cherish. Not long after Freya’s birth, they broke up. It was heartbreaking, but she eventually moved forward and wanted to be the best mother to their child.

Audrey didn’t start dating again until a few year ago. She became engaged rather quickly, but things ended after a year because she realised no one could compete with Gabe.
