NYC Junior Ambassadors educates New York City students about the role of the United Nations in world affairs and uniquely positions them to tackle global issues, locally.

The 2016-2017 NYC Junior Ambassadors program kicked-off today with an educators meeting at the UN. Students from twenty diverse classrooms and after-school programs will learn to see themselves as global citizens through a connection with the UN. From the five boroughs to the UN, NYC Junior Ambassadors transforms the lives of NYC students by empowering them to be change agents in their communities and to recognize how crucial their voices are to making the world a safer, more resilient, more peaceful place. Meet the diverse set of classrooms and after-schools programs selected for year two of the program, connecting the work of the UN to everyday lives of students through art, science, civics and language learning, among others.

As NYC Junior Ambassadors, hundreds of students from across the five boroughs have the opportunity to act as representatives of their city, pledging to create a better city and a more sustainable planet. As part of the program students receive curated tours of the UN Headquarters, giving them a behind-the-scenes look at the UN and access to a growing alumni network of young, future leaders. They also receive classroom visits from an Ambassador to the UN or senior diplomat. Applications for Year 2 of the program are open through October 5! Educators from across the five boroughs and from any subject area can apply!
