NYC Junior Ambassadors empowers students to see themselves as global citizens and to be agents of change in their communities through a connection with the United Nations.
Abdul’s deli serves a diverse clientele from around the world, including the UN Community. The UN is not the only global convener in NYC - surrounding businesses are too.
Frank has owned a dry cleaner shop in Tudor City for over 30 years, interacting on a daily basis with UN staff and diplomats. For Frank, NYC is a multicultural, multifaceted, and a multinational city - and the UN is at the heart of it.
The City of New York signed a historic agreement with a UN entity to work together in order to enhance the safety and empowerment of women and girls -becoming the first city in the US to join the Safe Cities Global Initiative. NYC once again once joined UN Women in a show of solidarity to end violence against women and girls around the world and to commemorate the start of 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence by lighting City Hall and Gracie Mansion orange on November 25, 2016- the color adopted by the UN Secretary-General’s UNiTE to End Violence Against Women campaign.
From the five boroughs to the UN, NYC Junior Ambassadors transforms the lives of NYC students by empowering them to be change agents in their communities and to recognize how crucial their voices are to making the world a safer, more resilient, more peaceful place. Meet the diverse set of classrooms and after-schools programs selected for year two of the program, connecting the work of the UN to everyday lives of students through art, science, civics and language learning, among others.
The UN works to promote the rights and advancement of persons with disabilities throughout the world. Right here in NYC we are working to ensure that all New Yorkers with disabilities can lead happy, healthy and productive lives.
The Global Goals seek to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure prosperity for all as part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Through OneNYC, NYC has established bold goals and specific targets for a strong, sustainable, resilient, and equitable city by 2030.
