It had been a long year...
Hours, days, even weeks spent pouring over books, and stressing over the next exam.
Or maybe that time was spent destressing at parties on campus.
Perhaps, there was someone hosting parties of their own at a successful nightclub.
Alternately, there was someone trudging their way home after spending hours on their poor feet, waiting tables.
The year felt stretched out for the CEO who did nothing but spend every waking moment at their desk, for there was always work to be done.
Then there was the single parent who hadn’t been able to catch a single break because parenthood was difficult and had no days off.
Possibly the year was spent living paycheck to paycheck, every day a fight to survive and make ends meet.
A guiding voice filtered through the radio to hopefully make the days easier to deal with, or take on some of the burdens callers had.
Whatever it was they were doing, wherever it was they were living – it had a been a long year, that was coming to an end... Or maybe it was the beginning of a long year?
Whether the year was coming to an end or just getting started, there were endless possibilities of new beginnings or loose ends being tied up on New Year’s eve!

“Yeah, yeah, I look great, I know. Don’t need to tell me twice,” Ben said with a teasing chuckle, “You don’t look too bad yourself.
“I only barely recognize most people at these events when I can see there faces. The masks makes it basically impossible,” Adeline said, taking her own mask off for a moment, “Who even came up with masquerade balls?”
