in which it’s Rafe Cameron’s job to pay for his wife’s wants, but what if that doesn’t happen this time?
Yn and Rafe had just finished picking up the house after dinner, and all the kids were down to sleep for the night, and Yn was grateful. It was a smooth night, thankfully, because all she could think about was the email she got during dinner. Her dream Swarovski bow earrings are back in stock after two years.
Quickly getting herself ready for the night and going back downstairs to the company, Rafe was washing dishes. Sitting on the couch, leaning back with a sigh, getting comfortable, opening her laptop, getting on the Swarovski website, and being thrilled to the ears that they are still in stock.
But Yn had another plan in mind, seeing how her husband of six years would react to her buying her own wants. Yn opened her camera app and propped it before Rafe could see her.
“Rafey, I think I'm going to get the earrings I was talking about.”
Rafe looks up from the dishes. “What? The Swarovski bow ones?”
“Yeah, I got the email during dinner, they're back in stock for a limited time.”
"Yeah? Did you decide which ones you want?" Rafe rinses off his hands, drying them while walking around the extremely large island in the middle of the kitchen. Yn's touch on the house.
"Yeah, I'm getting the mixed cuts one with the mixed colored diamonds." Yn giggles, looking back down at her laptop, knowing what she was about to do would send Rafe into a frenzy.
Rafe walks over to his bag, taking out his wallet. “Yeah, I remember. I also remember how devastated you were when they sold out.”
Rafe walks over, opening his wallet and taking out his card. Yn looks at him, confused, “What are you doing?”
“What do you mean? I'm obviously getting my card for you to pay.”
“Oh, no, Rafe, I just wanted to tell you because I already bought them.”
Rafe's face fell, wallet still in hand, opened, hand on the card, ready to take out “What? You'd better be joking. Is this one of your TokTiks again?”
“No, I'm not joking, does it look like I am, and it's TikTok old man.”
Rafe scoffed, offended, “First, I'm only twenty-eight, and I didn't buy you those because you were conflicted between those and the long emerald earrings.”
“And I told you I was conflicted because they were too expensive.”
Rafe looked at Yn like she had grown ten heads, “I make half a million in a year. Do you hear me? Half a million.
“I just wanted to think on it long and hard because it's a lot of money.”
Rafe sat next to Yn, still in frame, thankfully, clearly stressed. He makes what most families make in a couple of years.
“What? Why are you upset?”
“Babe, I wanted to buy those for you. I know you have a big girl job and big girl money, but it's my love language to get you these things that makes you happy. Seeing you happy over earrings makes me happy,” he checked the wallet on the coffee table in front of him.
“I know, but I can buy them myself.”
Rafe knew she could get them herself, but that's not the point.
“Did you hear anything I said just now?” Rafe is slightly getting irritated.
Yn smiled, “Well, if you're that upset, maybe you can get another pair.” Now giggling, knowing Rafe would double down, and just like she said, he did.
Rafe doubled down, “M'not upset, babe, maybe I'll just get you the whole collection.”
Yn smiled, hearing that “I love you.”
“I love you too, but ever do that shit again. It's my job to spoil you.” Rafe gets up, leaning in to kiss you, walking back to the dirty dishes. “You know what, get those Vintage Chanel kitten heels you wanted. I'll even throw in the Diamond Forever; you were talking about last week.”
Yn was surprised. “They made thirteen of those and only five in the US. How am I supposed to find that?”
“You tell me. Better start looking, princess.”
