they love each other. they truly do, whether that's something not quite platonically or romantically, doesn't matter, but they LOVE EACH OTHER. they want to spend all of eternity together, even if it proves itself too difficult. they'll make it possible.

the sun proposes to the moon—and the moon, despite wanting nothing more, begs for more time, because he knows that the sun will shine too brightly in excitement when he agrees, but will wilt away if he refuses.

the sun will shine too brightly. qifrey will get too comfortable. the sun will wilt. their bond is hurt and qifrey leaves—but that freedom would kill him too.

olruggio is the one thing keeping qifrey alive. HE'S the one responsible for their messy, fate tied predicament, because he wants more time with qifrey.

Sun and the Moon (O Sol e a Lua)

"Momma, why does the Moon run away from the Sun?" A small girl asks her mother, whom of which was cuddled up near the fireplace, humming a lullaby that she had learned from her mother, who had learned from her own mother and all generations before.

The mother gently pats the space near her, and the daughter complies, cuddling close in the warmth her mother had to offer. "Well my dear, it happened millennia's ago. The Moon and the Sun were lovers at the start."

"The Sun adored the Moon with all his heart. He loved her so much that he gifted her something very precious. Can you guess what it was?"

The Sun sat down next to the Lonely moon. The animals would be asleep when she visited, and the Sun knew that she was lonely at night. "My dear, I have something for you." The Moon turned to him tiredly, as she would sleep during the day. "Hmm?"

"The Sun and Moon, as much as they adored each other were not able to have children. They could only create things, not give birth. The Sun gave the Moon something he had created. Stars."

The Sun held something so precious in his arms. He handed it to the Moon and she gasped. A baby. A star. The Moon beamed at him, gently holding their child.

"She had named their star Günay. The Moon took their child up to the night with her, taking care of him as he grew up. Of course, Günay would see his father whenever the Moon and Sun met."

Baby Günay grinned, showing his gummy smile as he ran towards the Sun. "Papa!"

The Sun smiled softly at him, picking him up. "Hi my darling~ Oh look at how you've grown!" The Sun sniffled slightly, hugging his little star. The Moon stood next to him, beaming at the scene.

"However. As the years passed Günay kept growing up. At first the Sun and Moon were glad he was, but then he slowly grew up to look older. Older than his own parents, and he would grow ill."

The Moon and Sun sat at the bedside of their precious son. Their star. He coughed, barely glowing as he once used to. His parents cry, holding the hands of their dear son.

"The Sun could find no cure, as his son was the first of his kind. Years passed and he eventually exploded in the sky, when the Sun was resting and while the Moon was shining in the night."

The Moon heard the explosion while she was on her way home and froze. "...Günay..." She rushed back home, finding her son no where to be seen. She sobbed and ran to find her beloved. The Sun heard the noise but there was nothing he could do. He couldn't leave. He silently cried, tears raining down on the earth as a storm.

"The Moon found the Sun and they both hugged each other tightly, creating the first eclipse. Their mourning of their child, whom they had lost. The sky was pitch black those few moments, earth was confused. Now it's seen as something normal that happens, though every eclipse is them mourning their first star."

"But Momma what about the stars we have now? How are they there?"

"I'll get to that in a moment my precious"

"While the Sun and Moon were mourning, their weeping awakened the stars. They were created by the remains of Günay. In exchange for his life new stars were born. The sun was happy to have those that reminded him of his son, but the Moon wept harder, filled with hatred for the stars, whom she blamed for the death of her baby"

The sun held a small baby star in his arms, smiling at the precious child. He looked up from the small being to look at his wife. "Darling-" He froze, seeing not a bittersweet face but a face, a look, of hatred. To him. To the newborn Stars.

"The Sun knew that the Moon would leave him. And yet he couldn't help but hope. But to wish that she wouldn't."

"Do you have to go?" The Sun cried, weeping, begging on his knees for the Moon to stay by his side, to let him stay by her side.

And yet the Moon said nothing, leaving the Sun behind to weep, to mourn over her. The Sun tried to stay strong, for the Stars, for himself.

"The Sun wanted to care for the stars, though he had forgotten one thing. That the first star, was created to be beside the Moon, to keep her company. The stars were never meant to be by his side. He was not able to keep them with him."

Years, decades, Millennia's would pass and yet they still loved each other. The Sun would be the one to beam, the Moon to be the one to smile softly, gently. As it was the only thing to remind them of each other. Yet the Moon's hatred for the Stars would never die down, even though she would weep at their deaths.

And how ironically, she would be with those she hated the most. While the one who adored them would be forced to be separated from his dear daughters and sons.
