OBSERVATIONS MADE ON THE CAR RIDE HOME 4/18/23

gorillaz is singing don't be sad for me in my ears

the sun is in my eyes

i'm tired

my brother says to me you look skinnier

the force of gravity is pushing me side to side. when i close my eyes, i no longer exist

there's dogs in the backseat that BARK BARK BARK everytime anyone comes near

my stepmother called and my brother's girlfriend asked if everything was okay and i said yeah, course

the car bluetooth is not connected, the silence is too much, even though i have my earbuds in

the car stops and stalls on top of a hill. my brother restarts it. we keep driving

my sister sends me a text. it's a snapchat reel.

Los Angeles

is a side of a coin. One heads, the other tails. Day and night so similar, yet so different.

Day heads

Busy people, sunshine, and beautiful streets.

Night Tails

Violence, predators, prowling, hopelessness.

Day

Groups of girls giggling over an iced coffee, boys laughing over a friends failed pickup attempt, children giggling and playing make believe.

Night

Guns blazing, overdosing, foaming at the mouth while riding to the emergency room in an ambulance, praying for deaths sweet release.

Day

Men and women on corners bearing old worn cardboard signs pleading for help.

Night

Bodies strewn across the cold wet pavement in growing pools of crimson. The predators high up in the food chain smirking down sadistically as they take trophies from their victims.

Day

Accidents, death, smog, robberies, and sexual harassment.

Night

Strangulation, rape, stab wounds, Domestic violence.

What is L.A.? Two sides of a coin? 

NO! 

There is no heads or tails. Day and night are the same in this god damned city.

Blood and pain descending deeper into this fucking hell
