Tech Tuesday, and it's been a hot minute since I've drawn Timon Chapelle and Tech together.

I never expected my 6'11, Belter, smoker, husband of two, father of three, retired pirate turned firefighter to be my comfort character, but Timon is.

I love writing male characters with strong, happy friendships, and giving Tech someone like Timon makes me smile. I hope it does for you too. He's someone who sees Tech's neurodivergence as part of him, and it's not something to change or critique.

Besides, someone who can hyperfocus, come up with great ideas on the fly, and speak in fluent Blunt Facts in a place like the Belt speaks to Timon.

I imagine Tech suggested that Timon use his goggles at one point for firefighting, and the old dude's flummoxed by them, lol.

The challenge of writing side characters is, sometimes, they get interesting. They start to develop voices, personalities, histories, relationships with other characters, canon and otherwise.

That's Metric for sure, pictured with Haber 'Hobbs' Chapelle, a Belter kid. It’s my art.

It all started off because, when Crosshair gets rescued and taken to the Ring Gate, I knew his saviors had to be clones that probably knew Mayday during the Clone Wars*. Said clones also needed to be good translators, because they'd have a slew of Lang Belta messages drawing them in.

So, boom: here comes the 41st Elite Corps, dudes that were working with Wookiees for years. They’re used to wild situations, new languages, and ungovernable weirdos. Perfect for meeting Belters!

*= I headcanon Mayday as a former 41st himself, and that’s how he ended up on Barton IV.

'Into the Techiverse' is back, with ETHICAL ARGUMENTS!

gets to butt heads with the Mandalorian...

And different ideals, including different types of intergenerational trauma, are flung angrily at each other.
